Former Vice President Joe Biden has a new four-legged addition to his family: a German shepherd named Major."We are so happy to welcome Major to the Biden family, and we are grateful to the Delaware Humane Association for their work in finding forever homes for Major and countless other animals," read a statement from the Bidens, signed the former vice president, his wife, Jill Biden, and Champ, their other German shepherd. The Delaware Humane Association announced the adoption news on Facebook, writing in a post that Major "is from the litter of German shepherd pups that were surrendered and not doing well at all."Once Biden "caught wind of them," he "reached out immediately," the group said on Facebook, adding, "The rest is history!"The Bidens had been fostering Major, the group said on Facebook, thanking the family and wishing them luck with their new pet."Today is Major's lucky day! Not only did Major find his forever home, but he got adopted by Vice President Joe Biden & Dr. Jill Biden!" the post said.Biden is considered a top potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidate. As vice president, he would hand out stuffed-animal versions of his other dog, Champ, to kids. Champ also goes with Biden into his office in Washington, DC, from time to time. 1284

Following his briefing by his national security and foreign policy agency review teams "on their findings and key challenges that the Biden-Harris administration will inherit," President-elect Joe Biden said the transition into the White House has been met with "roadblocks" from Trump's administration.WATCH RECAP:Biden said his team has not received cooperation from the Office of Management and Budget and the Defense Department calling it "nothing short of irresponsibility.""We've encountered roadblocks from the political leadership of the Department of Defense & the Office of Management and Budget. Right now, we're just not getting all the information that we need from the outgoing administration in key national security areas. It's nothing short, in my view, of irresponsibility," Biden said.Biden also spoke about the recent massive cyberattack that breached numerous government agencies."We need to close the gap between where our capabilities are now and where they need to be, to better deter, detect, disrupt and respond to those sorts of intrusions in the future," Biden said. One of the key challenges Biden spoke about was rebuilding the full set of instruments of foreign policy and national security, which will start with our diplomacy."Today we heard from the leaders of the state and USAID agency review teams about the critical early investment we'll need to make in our diplomacy, in our development efforts and in rebuilding our alliances, to close the ranks with our partners and bring to bear the full benefits of our shared strength for the American people," Biden said.Christoper Miller, who is leading the Pentagon in an acting role, disputed Biden's claims on Monday. "The Department of Defense has conducted 164 interviews with over 400 officials, and provided over 5,000 pages of documents – far more than initially requested by Biden’s transition team," Miller said. "DOD’s efforts already surpass those of recent administrations with over three weeks to go and we continue to schedule additional meetings for the remainder of the transition and answer any and all requests for information in our purview. Our DOD political and career officials have been working with the utmost professionalism to support transition activities in a compressed time schedule and they will continue to do so in a transparent and collegial manner that upholds the finest traditions of the Department. The American people expect nothing less and that is what I remain committed to.” 2510

Florida State University notified students Wednesday afternoon that Spring Break 2021 is canceled.FSU said the move is in an effort to keep students and staff safe and healthy.Under the new plan, the Spring semester will begin on January 6, 2021, the first three days of which will be taught remotely. As a result of canceling Spring Break the Spring semester will now end on April 23, 2021, a week earlier than planned. The letter reads as follows:"As our highest priority remains the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff, Florida State University has adopted a new calendar for the Spring 2021 semester. The semester will still begin Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, however, the first three days of classes will be taught remotely. The university has canceled Spring Break in 2021. As a result, the semester will end Friday, April 23, 2021, a week earlier than originally planned. The university continues its efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and we believe these adjustments will reduce the potential for members of the campus community to return to Tallahassee with the virus after traveling during spring break.Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work together to provide a healthier and safer environment for the entire campus community."This story was first reported by WTXL in Tallahassee, Florida. 1344

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State University says it “deeply regrets” the experience two Native American teens underwent on a campus tour earlier this week, but says it has been unsuccessful in getting ahold of the family.“Early this week, University officials reached out directly to the family of the young men & their high school. We’d like the opportunity to speak w/Ms. Gray & her sons but we have not heard back from the family. We ask them to please get in touch with us at their convenience,” the university said in a string of tweets posted to its official Twitter account.“We will refund any expenses they incurred traveling to CSU. We deeply regret the unwelcoming and concerning experience they had while guests on our campus,” the university added. “The Office of Admissions, Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Native American Culture Center, and CSU Police Department all are reviewing how such an incident can be avoided or handled differently in the future.” 1002
