Loved ones held a fundraiser today for the family of a mother killed by a hit-and-run driver. The CHP says Bernadette Castillo was struck last week along the 94 in Jamul. Her family and friends held a barbeque to raise funds for her funeral at Colina Del Sol Park on Friday.July 27th was a day that Debra Marulli will never forget. "Shock. Pain. A little bit of comfort because I know she’s not hurting," said Marulli. "Somebody loves her. To leave her on the side of the road like she’s an old pet, it's cruel." Loved ones held on to positive memories today while raising money for her funeral. "She was amazing," said Marulli. "She went out of her way to help anybody. She didn’t hold a grudge against people."The CHP has not identified a suspect. LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A billboard calling for justice in the Breonna Taylor case was vandalized with red paint in Louisville..The public discovered the vandalism to the sign near the city’s Irish Hill neighborhood Tuesday morning, WLKY and WAVE report.However, by Tuesday afternoon, both TV stations say the paint had either been removed from the billboard or it had been replaced.The billboard is one of several erected in the Kentucky city by Oprah Winfrey and her magazine, which featured Taylor on its September issue. She was the first person other than Oprah herself to grace the cover.The signs feature a photo of the 26-year-old woman who was shot and killed by police in her home in March. They also have a call to action – “Demand that the police involved in killing Breonna Taylor be arrested and charged” – and encourage people to visit the website for Until Freedom, a social justice organization created to address systemic and racial injustice.Taylor died on March 13 after three Louisville police officers executing a search warrant used a battering ram to enter her home. The emergency room technician and her boyfriend were in bed. After a brief exchange, Taylor’s boyfriend reportedly fired his gun and then police fired shots, striking Taylor at least eight times. She died in the apartment hallway.Since Taylor’s death, protests have been held across the country, demanding that the officers involved be charged in her killing. Many celebrities other than Oprah have also used their platforms to call for action.For now, the shooting is under investigation by the FBI and Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron. LOVELAND, Ohio -- Someone drove through the wall of a sports bar near Cincinnati early Sunday after a fight, according to another patron.The vehicle, a Kia Optima, crashed through a fence, across a patio and into the side of Zappz Sports Bar and Grille in Loveland, Ohio at about 2:30 a.m.Blake Freeman, who was at the bar, said the driver smashed into the building on purpose after being kicked out. Freeman said he arrived moments after that."I was standing there 30 minutes prior to this happening. I had left to go to a friend's house real quick, and as I'm coming back, pulling back in, he was going through the building and that's just kind of when I went in and started helping everybody," Freeman said. 723

McDonald's is investing billion into their fast-food chains. Franchises across the country will be getting a new modern, high-tech look. The fast-food mogul says these updates will enhance the guest experience. Not only is it great for business, but it's great for communities. Franchise operator Laura Bucar says in her 40 years of doing business, McDonald's has never invested this much money into it's existing chains. "When we decide to move on anything, what that creates for the community, as far as jobs and resources, is incredible,” says Bucar. In order to create an incredible experience, McDonald's is investing millions of dollars into nearly every state to update their restaurants.“We just finished ours in July, and I can’t tell you how many electricians and plumbers locally that were sourced to come in, and even digital and technical people and so it really adds to the economy,” says Bucar.Each fast food restaurant is able to customize their artwork inside. Bucar is excited to give visibility to local artists. Not only is McDonald's offering jobs in the community for construction workers, but they are also adding a handful of positions inside their restaurants, too. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican authorities say gunmen burst into an unregistered drug rehabilitation center in central Mexico and opened fire, killing 24 people and wounding seven.Police in the north-central state of Guanajuato said the attack occurred Wednesday in the city of Irapuato. Apparently, the attackers shot everyone at the rehab center. Three of the seven wounded were reported in serious condition.State police say nobody was abducted.Guanajuato is the scene of a bloody turf battle between the Jalisco cartel and a local gang.No motive was given in the attack, but Mexican drug gangs have killed street-level dealers at such facilities in the past. 666
