The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, passed in March, created a trillion economic rescue package in response to the pandemic. It provided an extra 0 through the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program to help reduce the impact for the over 20 million affected when businesses were shuttered nationwide.If you’ve been receiving the 0 weekly unemployment check, here’s what to know — and some suggestions on what to do now.When does the 0 benefit end?The relief act scheduled the benefit to end “on or before July 31.” However, most states will issue the final payment on July 25, which concludes the last full payment cycle before the deadline. New York is the exception, with a July 26 cutoff.What happens when the 0 benefit ends?Discussions on a new relief package and how it will address unemployment are continuing in Washington, D.C. Democrats in the House approved a trillion relief package in May to extend the unemployment benefit through 2020. Republicans in the Senate expect to introduce a proposal on July 27, which means it isn’t likely that new legislation will arrive before the 0 benefit lapses.It could be a matter of days or weeks before an agreement is reached. While your unemployment benefits may shrink considerably during this gap, the aid won’t stop completely. You’ll still have access to your state’s unemployment insurance if you haven’t exhausted those benefits. A couple reportedly tried to sneak into an iconic church in San Francisco to get married with dozens of their closest friends and family, and now several in the wedding party have Covid-19.The couple originally planned to marry earlier this year, and rescheduled for early July, multiple media outlets report. The couple planned to marry at Saints Peter and Paul Church, with roughly 100 invited guests.The guests were instructed to enter the church from an underground parking structure. Some of the pews were roped off, presumably to allow for social distancing.Representatives from the San Francisco City Attorney's Office were able to stop many of the guests from going inside the church after spotting them, and told them the event had to be held outside. San Francisco’s coronavirus health guidelines allow up to 12 people to gather outdoors if there's no food or drink.After being told to hold the ceremony outside, a large group moved to a nearby basketball court for the ceremony. Some guests watched the wedding on a video conferencing service from their cars, according to the Chronicle.However, now some are reportedly sick. The bride and groom, as well as at least eight other members of the wedding party tested positive for the coronavirus, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on Sunday, citing information from two guests.The San Francisco Archdiocese has already been warned about hosting large events and weddings, according to emails obtained by NBC Bay Area. 1487

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck southeastern Mexico on Friday night, with the epicenter in the state of Oaxaca, the US Geological Survey reported.An earthquake alert was issued in Mexico City, about 348 kilometers (216 miles) away from the center of the earthquake. A judge ruled Tuesday the City of Omaha must release a video showing the death of a TV crewman during a shootout at Wendy's in 2014.Bryce Dion, a sound mixer on a shoot at a Wendy's in Omaha for the reality TV show "Cops," was shot and killed Aug. 26, 2014, after Omaha Police returned fire on a man who shot a pellet gun at officers. Officers were called to the restaurant on a report of a robbery.In the video, someone could be heard repeatedly asking, "Bryce, are you alright?" He can be seen slumped against a glass wall in the vestibule of the restaurant.Dion was wearing a bulletproof vest, but was hit with a bullet under his armpit. The suspect, Cortez Washington, who was using an airsoft pellet gun, was also killed.In 2016, Dion's brother, Trevor Dion, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city, which had asked a Douglas County District judge to bar the release of the video, according to the Omaha World-Herald. The lawsuit says Dion was doing as instructed when he was hit by gunfire from an Omaha police officer.“Bryce positioned himself where told, when told, and acted in accord with police officer instructions. The perpetrator drew what appeared to be a pistol, but proved to be a pellet gun that simulated discharge. Police responded with live rounds of ammunition. They shot and killed the perpetrator. As they did so, they also shot and killed Bryce who was positioned as directed between at least one police officer who arrived at the scene belatedly, other police officers, and the perpetrator.”Brian Jorde, Dion's attorney, says he plans to use the video and other evidence at trial. The proceedings are expected to begin sometime after July."There's approximately 20 bullet holes just near the area of where Mr. Dion was alone so there's a significant amount of gunfire that was exchanged," Jorde said. "We think the public deserves to know what happens when their taxpayer dollars are at work with the police and otherwise. A federal judge ruled on Thursday in favor of journalists and legal observers as part of a temporary restraining order involving the response of federal agents in Portland.The ruling comes less than one day after federal agents protecting a federal courthouse in the Oregon city deployed tear gas at protesters.Among those who was tear gassed was Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, who objected to the presence of federal agents in the city.The ruling says that federal agents cannot detain legal observers and journalists, nor can federal agents confiscate equipment used by journalists.President Donald Trump ordered federal agents to guard federal buildings and courthouses in major cities. Trump said he blames Democratic mayors for not getting a handle on the unrest that at times has become violent.“We can solve the problem very easily,” Trump said. “We're equipped with the best equipment, the best people. And you see what we're doing. I mean, Portland was coming down. It was busting at the seams and we went into protected all the federal buildings, those federal buildings that totally protected.”But the ACLU of Oregon has pushed back on the administration's response to the unrest, calling the deployment of federal agents an “escalation.”“This is a fight to save our democracy,” said Kelly Simon, interim legal director with the ACLU of Oregon. “Under the direction of the Trump administration, federal agents are terrorizing the community, risking lives, and brutally attacking protesters demonstrating against police brutality.
