Sleep traits could be a risk factor for breast cancer, new research suggests. Women who said they preferred to get out of bed early were found to have a lower risk of breast cancer than those who stay up late.However, experts cautioned that other breast cancer risk factors such as alcohol consumption and being overweight have a greater impact than sleep and said there was no reason to change your sleep patterns.One out of 100 women who considered themselves morning people developed breast cancer, compared with two in 100 women who described themselves as evening people, according to the study, which was published Wednesday in the BMJ.The study also found that sleeping more than the average seven to eight hours per night was found to have a slightly increased risk of breast cancer. "It's a regular seatbelt but the bottom part hooks in between the legs versus covering the belly," said Leah.The couple knows a maternity seatbelt might be considered extreme and Dr. Carewe says to be careful when purchasing certain safety products."There are so many things out there, so it's hard to know what’s good from the product websites," said Dr. Carewe. Besides reading reviews on the product, Dr. Carewe suggests always consulting your doctor before making a purchase like this. And to remember, a baby is safest in the belly. "Babies are inside the amniotic sac, which is inside the uterus, which is a very thick muscular wall that provides a lot of protection to babies," said Dr. Carewe.Wearing a standard seatbelt while pregnant is Dr. Carewe's recommendation, solely because not enough studies have been done on the safety of maternity belts.However, she knows that moms need to do what's right for their baby.And for Leah and Kierra, it gives them peace of mind. Summer is in full swing, and with the warmer months comes the mosquitoes. Not only are the small insects pesky, they are considered the deadliest animal in the world, believe it or not. More than 700 million people around the globe get sick from mosquito bites, and more than 700,000 people die from those bites each year."We always see West Nile Virus peaks right after the Fourth of July weekend, because people have been outside and not protecting themselves," says Kylee Grenis, an expert on mosquitoes. Grenis helped us conduct an experiment to find out which bug repellent works the best.We purchased three mosquito traps. We sprayed one trap with DEET. The other with a top rated non-DEET spray called Skin So Soft by Avon. The third trap was a controlled trap with no spray.The traps were hung next to dry ice in a mosquito-infested park."We are going to hang some dry ice near those traps to simulate a human standing and breathing and hopefully that will help attract more mosquitoes to our traps," explains Grenis on the use of dry ice. After an hour, the trap sprayed with DEET had one mosquito. In the Avon-sprayed trap, there were no mosquitos. In the control trap, there were six mosquitos. The sprays kept the mosquitos away.As far as sprays go, Grenis says she still prefers DEET. "It is great at making you invisible to mosquitoes,” she says. “That blocks the receptors so that they can't detect your carbon dioxide signature." But, many consumers fear products with DEET are not safe. "I think a lot of the time people get it confused with DDT,” she explains of Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), a chemical compound banned in many countries due to the danger it poses to wildlife and the environment.DEET is safe to use and just like the Avon spray, and both sprays are effective in keeping mosquitos away during the summer time months. 1872

TAMPA, Fla. — The family of Carla Stefaniak is suing Airbnb and the resort where she stayed, Villa Le Mas, after her body was found last month in Costa Rica. A security guard who worked at the resort has been arrested for her murder. Her body was discovered half-naked wrapped in plastic bags. "He wasn't legally authorized to work. Yet, nevertheless, he was given his own apartment there on the grounds, an apartment that was coincidentally directly next to Carla's rented villa," said attorney Jeffrey "Jack" Gordon, who filed the lawsuit.The lawsuit alleges both companies could have done more to protect its guests.The lawsuit states Airbnb and Villa Le Mas (also known as Villa Buena Vista) failed to perform any kind of background check on the security guard. According to court records, Airbnb posted complimentary and positive reviews of the resort property and its hosts. But there are multiple reports of guests who had bad experiences since 2013. "A large organization with significant resources that's making billions of dollars can't make believe it's an ostrich and put its head in the sand and say I don't see any bad things," Gordon said.The lawsuit states the U.S. Department of State has, for a number of years prior to 2018, issued opinions through its Bureau of Consular Affairs that in Costa Rica, "Violent crime, such as armed robbery and assault, is common.""It's a joint responsibility.
