SAN FRANCISCO -- A massive fire broke out at a two-story commercial building in San Francisco Saturday night, according to KRON.The fire started inside the building and spread outward. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- Hundreds of volunteers, from all over the state, are in San Diego for Governor Gavin Newsom’s emergency preparedness campaign. It’s called “California For All.” The campaign is designed to help emergency responders during wildfires and other disasters. California For All campaign is bringing together 600 volunteers. The Community Emergency Response Teams, also known as CERT, is on a mission to help prepare people in the community in case of a natural disaster.CERT members are also trained to assist first responders. “It’s an opportunity for community members to learn basic skills to prepare their community to respond, in case of a major disaster or any event, where the actual true responders can’t get there on time” Dore Bietz. Governor Gavin Newsom and legislators came together to make a million commitment to the campaign. A video message from the governor was played during today’s session. CERT members also help engage diverse and socially vulnerable communities during times of need. “It is very difficult for first responders to come in when there is a language barrier,” says Bietz. (KGTV) -- A North San Diego County mother died early Sunday morning and the father of her children has been arrested, authorities said.San Diego County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to calls of a possible shooting just after midnight at a home on 25969 Duro Rd. in Valley Center, according to Lt. Chad Boudreau of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.When deputies arrived, they found an adult female suffering from a traumatic injury. The victim was rushed to Palomar Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, said Boudreau.The victim was identified as Mayra Meraz, 31. (KGTV) — Thirty-four people were arrested after Border Patrol agents intercepted two smuggling boats in less than 24 hours.The first boat was spotted around 11:15 a.m. on Sunday by a Department of Homeland Security aircraft. Less than an hour later, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Air and Marine Operations agents were able to stop the vessel about one-mile southeast of Point Loma.Twenty-one people were arrested, including four who are alleged smugglers — two of which are U.S. citizens. The remaining 17 people on board were Mexican nationals.
