BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) -- The presidium of the third session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, decided to put eight documents for the vote at the session's closing meeting on Sunday.

This year, eight scientists, one foreign organization and 318 research projects won the state awards.

"China attaches great importance to ties with the United States and is ready to make joint efforts with the U.S. side to take care of the relationship," said the Chinese leader, adding that he looks forward to a state visit to the United States later this year.

Given complicated economic circumstance with traditional industries, China should promote innovation as the new driving force for the economy, Li said.
