SHANGHAI, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in China's economic hub Shanghai on Sunday night, starting a state visit to China.     Air Force One touched down at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport in heavy rain at about 23:10.     This is Obama's first state visit to China since he assumed the presidency in January. He is also the first U.S. president who paid a state visit to China within one year in office.     This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the People's Republic of China and the United States.     U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Permanent Representative to the United Nations Susan Rice and National Security Advisor James Jones also arrived in Shanghai Sunday night. U.S. President Barack Obama arrives in Shanghai on Nov. 15, 2009 to begin his first state visit to ChinaPresident Obama will meet with local officials on Monday and have a dialogue with Chinese youth, during which he is supposed to answer questions from netizens via Xinhuanet, a news website of the Xinhua News Agency on Monday.     He will leave Shanghai Monday afternoon for Beijing, where he will hold talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao and meet with other Chinese leaders.     Leaders of the two countries are expected to discuss bilateral ties and major international and regional issues of common concern, according to diplomatic sources. BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Ruling parties of China and Japan on Thursday pledged to deepen trust and work together for a stronger strategic relationship of mutual benefit between the two countries.     The pledge came out of a meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) Ichiro Ozawa in Beijing on Thursday afternoon. Ozawa is leading a delegation of 600-strong members, including 146 DPJ lawmakers from the upper and lower houses of the Japanese Diet, for a four-day visit in Beijing. The program has so far sent about 350 Japanese lawmakers and more than 2,000 representatives from various circles to visit China.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 1 (Xinhua)-- HSBC has raised its forecast of China's GDP growth this year to 8.1 percent, said HSBC Group Chairman Stephen Green here Sunday.     The bank's previous forecast was 7.8 percent.     While attending the annual International Business Leaders' Advisory Council (IBLAC), Green said the world financial crisis has not derailed either of the two most noteworthy and transformative trends in global finance: "the rise of China and the shift from west to east."     He also expected effects of China's stimulus packages would further lift the country's GDP growth and sustain the recovery momentum into 2010.     Green said Shanghai, as China's largest city, had kept a relatively stable growth during the crisis, which suggested it had the potential to become one of the world's financial centers comparable to New York or London.

MACAO, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said here Sunday that the cause of "one country, two systems" is an important part of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, stressing that "the great motherland is always a strong back-up force for the prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and Macao."     Hu, also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks when delivering an important speech at the celebration gathering marking the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland.     The advance of the great cause of "one country, two systems" calls for the joint efforts of the central government, the governments of the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR as well as people of all circles, the president noted.     The central government will remain firmly committed to the principles of "one country, two systems", "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong", "Macao people governing Macao" with a high degree of autonomy.     The central government will continue to act in strict accordance with the basic laws of the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR and give full support to the chief executives and governments of the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR in their governance according to law, he said.     The president pledged that all policies adopted by the central government on Hong Kong and Macao always adhere to the principles of benefiting the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao, the improvement of the livelihood of all residents in Hong Kong and
