BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday met astronauts and scientists who participated in the Shenzhou-10 mission, extending congratulations to the success of the mission.

Although there have been key military personnel changes in China and Britain since last year, as General Houghton and General Ma were appointed to new posts, both sides "remain committed to high-level military exchanges, regular dialogues and deeper cooperation," he said.

"What kind of a relationship do we need? What type of cooperation should China and the United States have to achieve win-win results? How can both countries work together to promote peace and development in the world? These questions are major concerns not only of the two countries and two peoples, but also of the whole international community," he said.

"We direct them to negotiate and conclude the agreement which will establish them. We will review progress made in these two initiatives at our net meeting in September 2013," he said.
