SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A shark advisory is being issued Tuesday after witnesses reported seeing a five-foot-long shark near Black's Beach. According to Mónica Mu?oz with San Diego Fire-Rescue, the advisory is in place from the Mushroom House north to Bathtub Rock, also known as Flat Rock. “Some witnesses reported seeing a shark of about five feet in length which does not reach the threshold of a significant threat. However, the number of witnesses and the feeding behavior observed influenced the lifeguards’ decision to issue the advisory,” Mu?oz said. Just after 12:30 p.m., a group of 25 surfers got out of the water at Black's Beach after reportedly seeing a shark eating a sea lion. Another group of people reported similar information to a lifeguard. In the same area, Mu?oz says lifeguards witnessed a large sea lion eating a fish. The department says there were either two separate sightings in the area, or witnesses all saw a sea lion feeding on a fish, but mistook it for a shark. “We are acting out of an abundance of caution,” Mu?oz added. Lifeguards are conducting active patrols in the area to let people know what witnesses saw. Mu?oz says lifeguards are advising against water activity; however, the water is not closed to people who choose to enter. Signs will also be posted in the area. 1316

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Across the state of California, there were more than 10,000 sexual harassment offenses, as defined by California education code that resulted in suspension, expulsion or disciplinary diversion.A San Diego mother says her daughter was bullied and sexually harassed at school.“She said that he would take her pencils from her,” said Myiesha Jackson. “If she tried to get them back he would stick them down his pants."Jackson claims the male student didn’t stop there. She claims he took Play-Doh, made it into the shape of a penis and rubbed it on her daughter while making inappropriate sounds."I consider that sexual harassment,” said Jackson. An investigation report Jackson gave to Team 10 says the accused student admitted to rolling up the Play-Doh and holding it up while singing an inappropriate song that was sexual in nature, and the Play-Doh represented a male genitalia part, but the other student denied touching her with it.At the end of the report, it lists an action play, basically separating both students at all points of the day so they wouldn’t come into contact with each other.Jackson says that’s not what happened."The very day I brought her back she was in lunch, the line to get lunch, and they let him out of the office apparently, and he went and stood directly behind her,” she said.Magnolia Science Academy- San Diego denied 10News’ request for an interview.In an emailed statement an attorney for Magnolia Public Schools wrote:“State and federal student confidentiality laws and our organization's policy prohibit MSA-SD from commenting on specific students or incidents in which they may be involved. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — About 160 military police and engineers will be sent to border crossings in San Diego and El Paso this weekend, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.The government will send 80 active-duty troops to San Diego and another 80 to El Paso, according to CBP and the Department of Defense (DoD). Troops are expected to arrive at the two locations Saturday.CBP confirmed to 10News the Department of Defense will provide a "crisis response force" (CRF) for the San Ysidro Port of Entry (POE) in case a federal appeals court nixes a Trump Administration policy known as "Remain in Mexico," and due to coronavirus containment concerns.RELATED: Trump: US could close borders to guard against coronavirus"Based on the pending MPP [Migrant Protection Protocols] decision, continued concern of large groups attempting to forcibly enter through the San Ysidro POE, and COVID-19 containment and mitigation concerns, CBP has activated the CRF," a CBP spokesperson said.Though the spokesperson later downplayed that the troop surge was in direct response to coronavirus cases."...The DoD is not doing anything in direct terms of COVID-19. CBP officers are still doing all immigration related screenings. This is more about port security," the CBP spokesperson added. "As demonstrated last Friday following the 9th Circuit’s MPP ruling announcement, the balance between facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel while upholding our national border security mission and the safety of the public and our personnel is delicate."The government's "Remain in Mexico" policy requires asylum seekers to stay in Mexico while their cases are processed through the U.S. court system. Last week, when the policy was temporarily stopped, crowds gathered at an El Paso crossing.In response to the incident, CBP said five port of entries have either been closed or had operations partially suspended."[POEs] are not designed or equipped to handle extremely large groups of travelers arriving all at the same time and temporary closure of a POE is contemplated as an extreme option, as necessary for public safety and border security," the spokesperson said.San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer's office, however, said while the extra troops are welcomed in San Diego, they shouldn't be treated as a long-term solution.“San Diego supports our brave men and women in the military and appreciates their service wherever it may be. Deploying the military to the border is not a viable long-term solution. As we saw with the reversal of the 'Safe Release' policy back in 2018, San Diego’s non-profit community and regional agencies quickly responded to establish a temporary shelter for migrants who were being released onto San Diego streets as a result of changes to Federal immigration policy. The City continues to be in close communication with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and our local non-profits to monitor the situation," said Ashley Bailey, Senior Press Secretary of the Mayor's office.The DoD told 10News that the additional troops will install temporary barriers to restrict access through POEs and provide protection for CBP personnel at the locations, if needed."The service members are from the 687th Engineer Construction Company and the 519th Military Police Battalion. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego woman is calling for the community’s support and the power of social media to find a match for her kidneys. According to “Donate Life,” nearly 20,000 people need a kidney transplant in California alone, and the number of registrants grows every day.38-year-old Ann Brown has been married to husband Jason for 20 years. The couple has two children: Van (18), who was recently accepted into the US Navy, and little Sammantha (9). The family has always enjoyed taking vacations, and going to the beach and mountains. But that all stopped seven years ago.“He asked how long I had polycystic kidneys and I’m like, ‘Excuse me?’” said Brown, recalling a routine visit to the doctor.That day, the Brown family found out that Ann had stage three kidney failure. Both of her kidneys were riddled with inoperable cysts, becoming much larger than normal. Nearly a year ago, Ann was placed on the kidney donor registry, but so far, has been without a match. “My husband was going to donate to me, but he wasn’t a match,” Brown said. “It makes me feel helpless I can’t do anything,” said her husband, Jason.With a rare B+ blood type, only those with B or O types can even attempt to donate to Ann. Her high antibody count also makes her case extremely hard to match. “Doctors said only 10% of the population could even donate,” Brown said. The only thing keeping her heart beating is the massive dialysis machine in the master bedroom. “Nine to ten hours a day, I’m trapped,” Brown laughed. “But it keeps me alive. It keeps me healthy enough until the next morning, and gives me another day.”Doctors told her that waiting for a cadaver kidney match can take up to ten years. With no live donor in sight, the odds are not good. Jason set up a Facebook and website and even had son Van share the links to his favorite professional athletes and social media influencers. But they still got no responses. The Brown family exhausted all resources. At a recent photo op, 9-year-old Sammantha even asked help from Santa Claus.“I asked him for a kidney donor for my mom,” Sammantha said. Brown said she was caught off guard. Her daughter’s wish moved her to tears.“At nine years old, she should be asking for toys or candy,“ said Brown. “But she asked for the most selfless gift, something for someone else.”Sammantha also wrote a card to her mother.“I drew a kidney right here. It says 'So here’s mine. But I wish it was real,'” Sammantha said. “And in the back, it says Merry Christmas.”The family is hoping for a Christmas miracle to give Ann a new lease on life. “I’m just hoping someone has a good heart, and give us the most beautiful gift that anybody can have. Gift of life,” said Ann’s mother Elizabeth Graves. “It’s a huge thing that I am asking, and I understand that,” Brown said. “And it would be really appreciated though. My kids would appreciate. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- About two dozen protesters rallied against 5G technology at Waterfront Park Wednesday. The group says increased radiation is extremely harmful and can lead to seizures and heart failure.The city of San Diego accounted their 5G partnership with Verizon in April. The deal adds 0 million of infrastructure including new equipment cells on city-owned light poles. Police say the increased smart technology can help increase safety. Protesters today disagree."There’s no safety testing for this plan at all," said Susan Brinchman with the Center for Electrosmog Prevention. "I know why they didn’t do the testing, because there’s no way to safely implement this. Scientists are beginning to associate it with the development of cancer."A New York Times article released this week says 5G is actually safe. The article cites a Temple University researcher who says," 5G emissions, if anything, should be safer than previous generations,”.Mayor Kevin Faulconer says the agreement with Verizon will not only enhance cell service but also keep communities safer and cut costs for taxpayers.
