For the first time in three decades, Best Buy has a new logo.The electronics store launched its new-look logo Wednesday to make it "more modern and easier to read, especially in today's digital world.""The updated logo is true to our heritage, but it's really cleaned up," said Best Buy chief marketing officer Whit Alexander, in a statement. "It's an evolution toward the future, and we're excited about that."The redesigned Best Buy logo still features a yellow tag, but the words "Best Buy" have been pulled out of the tag, and the tag has been shrunk.The new logo is already in use on the Best Buy website and Twitter account. Fifty years ago, civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stepped out onto a balcony by Room 306 at Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, where he spoke to other hotel guests who were in the courtyard.At 6:01 p.m. that night — April 4, 1968 — he was killed by a gunshot. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m.The night before his assassination, King preached at the Mason Temple, the world headquarters of the Church of God in Christ, saying to the audience, "We as a people will get to the Promised Land."A fugitive of the Missouri State Penitentiary, James Earl Ray, was captured in June 1968 and charged in MLK's assassination. He pleaded guilty, though in the decades that followed he tried to withdraw the plea and sought a jury trial. There was never a trial, and Ray died in prison in 1998 at age 70.It has been suggested, and is believed by the King family, that MLK was killed as a result of a government conspiracy that involved the Mafia and Memphis police, but it has never been proven in a court. FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Residents in a Fort Pierce community on Hutchinson Island had a special surprise for Joseph Malizia.They gave the 22-year-old man with special needs a box full of flags Thursday to replace the ones that had been stolen from him recently."I love it. I love that they care about me," Malizia said when looked at the flags from all over the world packed in the box."The community wanted to show Joseph there are more good people," Heather Thomson said.Neighbors in the Mariner Bay community said they often see Malizia waving different flags at the beach and along State Road A1A and in the neighborhood.His father said Malizia took a liking to flags as a child while attending his brother and sister's surfing tournaments. For Rep. Martha McSally, there may be another way to get to the Senate: an appointment.A day after the Arizona Republican conceded her Senate campaign to Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, the state's other senator, Jon Kyl, told CNN on Tuesday he has decided whether to leave office before his term ends at the end of next year. He wouldn't reveal his decision, but said he will talk to Gov. Doug Ducey about it.He also praised McSally, who once worked on his staff as a national security adviser, when asked about her as a potential replacement if he resigns."Martha McSally would be a very good member of the United States Senate, however she got there," Kyl said. "And I regret that she didn't make it in her election.""I can't think of anybody more qualified than Martha McSally," he added.In the interview, Kyl made clear that an appointment would be Ducey's decision, saying he didn't "want to try to try to influence that."
