SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Who said vinyl was dead?April 13 marks Record Store Day (RSD) in the U.S., as stores across the country plan to take part in the celebration of records with special releases.Releases from artists including Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Prince, Sly & The Family Stone, Weezer, and many more will hit record store shelves for the musical holiday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A plan to permanently remove the traffic along Normal Street in Hillcrest and replace it with a promenade will be voted on Tuesday. If approved, the westside traffic lanes would become a pedestrian walkway with dedicated bike lanes. It would also make room for the weekly Hillcrest farmers market and other events. “They call it a promenade but where are people promenading to,” says Linda Hanna, owner of Salon Antoine. Hanna has owned the business near the corner of Normal Street and University Avenue for almost 20 years. “We are in favor of something like this, but we need to think it through.”Other business owners are worried because the project would eliminate a driveway to a nearby shopping center.“If you don’t close that driveway, you have a driveway going right to the park, and that’s a real problem,” says Benjamin Nicholls, Executive Director of the Hillcrest Business Association. To add space to the east side lanes, some parking spaces will be moved. The Hillcrest Business Association says there are plans to add dozens of parking spaces near Lincoln Avenue. The Uptown Planners will vote on the project Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Hillcrest Business Association will be holding an event before the vote to update members of the community on the project. 1296

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two young teenagers have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the deadly shooting of a College Area man. According to San Diego Police, the two juveniles, ages 14 and 15 were taken into custody and placed into Juvenile Hall. “The names of the juveniles will not be released due to their age,” police said. 39-year-old Ishi Hampton was shot and killed on May 2 outside the “Iconic at Alvarado” apartments in the College Area. At some point, investigators say they shot him and ran toward Alvarado Hospital. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested Monday afternoon after police say she stole a vehicle with two children inside.Police say Rodney Cole left his 3-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter in his car with the engine and air conditioner running around noon on the 200 block of Euclid Avenue.After he went into a business, a witness reported seeing a woman, later identified as Leslie Saenz, get into the car and drive away with the children inside.Monday night Cole explained the terrifying ordeal to 10News.His 8-year-old daughter, Malaiha, told police she was able to call the police and tell dispatchers that she and her brother Jackson had been kidnapped. "They said, '911 whats your emergency?' and I said, 'me and my little brother got kidnapped,'" Malaiha said. "and (police) said, 'where are you and what can you see?' and I said, 'signs for the Mexico border.'""(The woman) tried to take the phone away from me but I moved away from her, and she said, 'give it to me, or I’m going to drive in circles and take this car and crash into the freeway wall.'"That's when she gave the phone to the woman, but the police acted quickly.  Roughly 30 minutes later after the car was stolen, Border Patrol detained the woman as she was trying to cross the border into Mexico.  Police have since taken Saenz into custody.Cole told 10News he bought the phone for the kids a few months ago, but it's not an activated line. He taught Malaiha how to call 911 on the phone, in case of emergencies. "I'm very proud of her," he said. 1616

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - 10News got an exclusive interview with the young San Diego man who says a local ICE agent pointed a gun at his head before being arrested, in part, for driving under the influence.“I’m 20 years-old and for him to pull a gun on me just for test-riding my motorcycle on the street is definitely not okay,” says Jonathan Levenson.A spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirms ICE Agent Ed Zuchelli is on administrative leave while officers investigate a criminal matter.San Diego police confirm the incident happened on February 16th on Blue Lake Drive in the community around Lake Murray.Levenson says he was test-riding his dirt bike on his street when he saw the agent walk into the middle of the street to block him.“He had it pointed at me at a ‘shooter’s position’. That’s when I knew it was definitely a gun,” he tells us of the agent, who is his neighbor. “When he first came up to me I could smell some beer on his breath but nothing too strong,” he adds.Levenson says he rode around the agent, but the agent got into his vehicle and followed. “He turned on his lights and sirens and started yelling at me through his microphone. [He was] telling me he was a federal agent and not to mess with him,” says Levenson.Levenson adds that the agent showed him his federal ID badge.SDPD confirms Zuchelli was in a government-issued vehicle at the time of arrest.Police say he was arrested for alleged DUI, showing a weapon and making threats.
