HANGZHOU, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official has urged members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) working in the country's non-public economic sector to work hard to make their companies into advanced and excellent businesses.The call was made by Li Yuanchao, chief of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, during a two-day study tour to Zhejiang Province, one of the regions where the non-public economic sector has been highly developed, on east China coast.The tour ended Friday.During his stay in Zhejiang, Li visited a number of non-public businesses in two cities of Huzhou and Hangzhou in order to gain a first-hand information regarding how CPC members in those ventures have been doing under a Party campaign which encourages CPC members to excel at their workposts.While addressing a symposium held Friday in Hangzhou, the provincial capity, Li said the non-public sector was "an important force for developing the socialist economy with Chinese characteristics."Li added that Party organizations and its members at non-public enterprises should try to ensure that their firms take a correct orientation of development.

BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Ma Kai said Tuesday that China was willing to enhance energy dialogue and cooperation with other nations.China attaches great importance to energy-saving and environmental protection while striving to achieve a comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development of energy, Ma said during a meeting with some participants of the 2010 China International Energy Forum in Beijing.The participants included Pierre Gadonneix, chairman of the World Energy Council, and Randall Gossen, president of the World Petroleum Council.Ma said China's energy consumption mainly depended on domestic supply. Meanwhile the country was an active participant in international energy cooperation.Gadonneix said the forum would pay more attention to the issue of energy development and environmental protection, enhance diversity and inclusiveness of the event, and contribute to the world's sustainable development.

HANOI, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- The cooperation among China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) is an important part of East Asian cooperation, and the correct direction of the tripartite cooperation should be firmly kept from a strategic perspective, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Friday at a meeting of leaders of the three countries.The cooperation among China, Japan and the ROK, an important part of East Asian cooperation, has been developing soundly with the efforts of the three countries, Wen said when meeting with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan.The three countries should attach strategic importance to the cooperation among them and steer it in the right direction. BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang said Sunday China should vigorously promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy and strengthen its self-innovation to ensure the sound, fast and safe development of China's nuclear industry.Zhang made the remarks at a nuclear work conference in Beijing. He affirmed the achievements that China's nuclear industry has accomplished and the contribution it has made to the country's national defense and social and economic development in the past 55 years.Zhang also said China should increase efforts to boost the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technologies.The country should introduce advanced nuclear technologies developed abroad and strengthen cooperation and communication with leading nuclear companies, he said.Zhang also said China should improve its self-innovation capacity and accelerate the translation of technological results into real-life productivity.

BEIJING, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) - China's State Council, or the Cabinet, unveiled a set of guidelines Wednesday, aiming at helping reconstruction work in landslide-hit Zhouqu County in Gansu Province.The guidelines affect taxation, finance, education and employment policies in the region which was devastated by the massive mudslide on Aug. 8.The document clarified that funds for the reconstruction would come primarily from central government subsidies.It said that priority would be given to rebuild damaged residential houses, public services, infrastructure and prevent the spreading of diseases.It specified tax reduction measures for enterprises and individuals who had organized and collected donations, and encouraged banks and financial institutions to increase loans to the mudslide-hit areas.Land required for housing, infrastructure and reconstructing public facilities will be allocated by the local government, according to the document.Local governments or universities have also been directed to financially assist Zhouqu-born college students, while high-school students in the landslide-affected areas have been exempted from paying tuition fees, the document said.A massive mudslide triggered by rainstorms slammed Zhouqu county in northwest China's Gansu Province on Aug. 8, leaving 1,472 dead, 294 missing and more than 15,000 people homeless.
