VISTA (CNS) - An Oceanside physician who sexually assaulted five female patients referred by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs was sentenced Thursday to three years probation and was ordered to register as a sex offender and surrender his medical license.Dr. Edgar Manzanera, 39, could face three years in state prison if he violates the terms of his probation.Manzanera, who was contracted by the VA to review pension disability claims, pleaded guilty last September to one count of sexual exploitation by a physician for acts committed in 2015 and 2016, and admitted a special allegation of committing acts against multiple victims.RELATED: Former doctor pleads guilty to sexual misconductFour counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object were dismissed as part of the plea."The victims placed the defendant in a position of inherent trust and confidence and the defendant betrayed that trust," Deputy District Attorney Claudia Plascencia said when Manzanera pleaded guilty. (KGTV) -- Deputies arrested a man they say kidnapped his girlfriend’s 8-year-old son early Wednesday morning.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the alleged kidnapping happened on the 300 block of Hillside Terrace at 2:15 a.m.Authorities say Guillermo Cruz, 32, was intoxicated when he drove to his girlfriend’s house, jumped a balcony fence, and abducted the woman’s sleeping 8-year-old son. Deputies say Cruz is not the child’s father.After calling 911, deputies spotted the vehicle Cruz was driving and pulled him over before making the arrest. The young boy was unharmed.Deputies say they noticed Cruz had an empty vodka bottle in the car with him. He was arrested on multiple charges, including child abduction, kidnapping, child endangerment, driving under the influence and burglary. 832

(KGTV) - The driver responsible for a hit-and-run crash in Encinitas that left a mother with severe injuries was sentenced Monday to one year in jail.Justin Parker hit Ashley Lane on Encinitas Blvd. in September 2017. She suffered multiple broken bones, strokes, and partial paralysis.Parker turned himself in two weeks after the hit and run, as investigators were closing in on tips from the community. Investigators say Parker had been drinking prior to the incident.Investigators said Parker drove his truck to a repair shop in Riverside county to repair the damage. Lane made a victim impact statement in Vista court Monday, calling Parker 'selfish' and 'cowardly'."The only reason you turned yourself in was because of the tips from the community of Encinitas and the hard work from my father. My girls have been hurt the most in this," Lane said.  900

(KGTV) - For the third time in recent months, a local Boy Scout troop is coping with a heartbreaking theft.As they were getting ready to leave on a camping trip Friday, Boy Scout Troop 722 in Vista realized their camping trailer was gone.Without a trailer, future trips are now in jeopardy.The trailer was parked in the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church parking lot when someone broke the padlock and stole the trailer. Because the troop has dealt with vandalism in the past, all their gear is kept in a shipping container. The trailer has a unique bolt on its door, which was put in to prevent people from breaking in.Replacing the trailer will cost the troop ,000.Community members can donate on a Go Fund Me page set up for the troop. If you spot the trailer, contact the Vista Sheriff's Department.In September, a Chula Vista Troop's trailer was stolen, as well as one earlier this month one in University City.
