Evacuations have been ordered for northern Arizona communities due to the Tinder Fire burning near Happy Jack.According to Coconino County officials, evacuations were ordered Sunday by the Coconino County Sheriff's Office for affected communities north, east and west of Highway 87 including Moqui Ranchettes, all of Starlight Pines, Clear Creek (except 1 and 2), all of Timber Ranch, all of Tamarron, Pine Canyon, Blue Ridge Estates, Ponderosa Pines, and Mogollon Ranches. The evacuation will be in effect until further notice, deputies will stay in the area to provide 24-hour security.  The fire has burned an estimated 8,000 acres and is burning 1.5 miles northeast of Blue Ridge Reservoir. ESCONDIDO (KGTV) - In one of the closest races this election cycle in San Diego County, Escondido Mayor Sam Abed added nine votes to his narrow lead Tuesday. He now holds a 29-vote advantage over challenger Paul McNamara.Abed is seeking a third term as mayor, first winning in 2010. He was previously a councilman from 2004-2010.Political analyst John Dadian told 10News he did not anticipate the race being so close. "I did not see it coming, so I am suprised. Going into the last week of the campaign, all the people I talked to that really know that area well, they did not see this coming."Dadian feels several factors are playing a role in tightening the race. He cites changing demographics in Escondido, pulling away from the city's long-time conservative majority. Another conservative incumbent, Ed Gallo, appears to be losing his seat, as well.In addition, Democrats in the region had a large turnout, based largely on the unsuccessful effort to oust Congressman Duncan Hunter. That large turnout may have had a down-ballot effect on the mayoral race.Dadian also sites Abed's controversial stance on immigration, leading Escondido's bid to support efforts against California's sanctuary laws and visiting the White House for a highly-publicized meeting with President Trump. Dadian believes that may have helped enthuse opposition against Abed.As of Tuesday night, Registrar of Voters Michael Vu says there are still 299,000 ballots to count county-wide. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — One person is dead and a driver is at large following a hit-and-run collision in Escondido.A vehicle collided with a bicyclist on La Honda Road north of El Norte Parkway at about noon, according to the Escondido Police Department."The rider was wearing a helmet, and we are still investigating the cause as to what happened and how the car and bicyclist crashed," Lt. Scott Walters with the Escondido Police Department said. The cyclist was part of a larger group going southbound on La Honda Drive. Witnesses of the crash saw the 36-year-old victim from Vista fly off his mountain bike and die at the scene. Investigator said the driver of the car never stopped and continued going northbound on La Honda Drive. A short while later, investigators got a break in the case. The mangled car was spotted on the 600-block of Aster Street, just a half-mile away from the crash site. 10News spoke to neighbors watching the commotion, who said they did not recognize the sedan. The victim's identity was not immediately released.Police advised the public to avoid the area for about five hours after the crash. Access to Dixon Lake and Daley Ranch Recreation Areas was closed, but hikers and bikers were able to access Daley Ranch through Cougar Pass in north Escondido, police added. 1312

ESTES PARK, Colo. — The family of 20-year-old Micah Tice, the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School student missing on Longs Peak near Estes Park, Colorado, criticized the National Park Service during a Friday evening press conference.Benjamin Tice claims that officials with Rocky Mountain National Park, which has suspended the search for the 20-year-old man missing for two weeks in wintry weather, have not done enough to find his son. “Limited searches were conducted and directed by the National Park Service and their search and rescue from November 27 to December 3,” Benjamin Tice said. “A total of six days of boots on the ground.”Micah Tice has been missing for nearly two weeks. He was last seen hiking on Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park on November 24. Search resources have included ground crews, trained dogs and helicopters. ENCINITAS (KGTV)-- An Encinitas man is warning other pet parents of the dangers hidden at dog parks, one almost killing his fur baby Kelly.They were at Power Lines Dog Park Thursday evening, as usual, and something caught Kelly's sniffer."She would not stop searching through there," her owner James McDonald said. She was digging in the bushes, then stopped, craddling her foot.He thought, being an active dog as she is, she strained herself."I picked her up and carried her to the car... When I got her home she couldn't even walk," he said, "So I put her in our bed and just sacrificed the duvet, she can puke all over my duvet that's okay."He said it was extreme, and violent. He was terrified she would choke on her own vomit, so he compressed her chest each time to ensure she could breathe in air.He said she was completely limp. An hour of this goes by, then she started coming around, sort of."She would come to conscious with fear in her eyes, not knowing where she was, who she was or what was happening?" McDonald said.James knew she was poisoned but didn't want to take her to the vet."I wanted her to die comfortably, I'm sorry," he said choking back tears, "I wanted her to die comfortably in my arms, not in a cage with a needle stuck in her arm."That night his son found a bit of brownie on her paw, leading them to believe she found and ate a pot brownie.His sons had an idea of how it got there, "one son said he actually has hidden them in the park, another son said he's found them in the park."The whole incident drove McDonald to post on the Nextdoor app, to warn neighbors. He swore to never come back to that dog park, and only returned to tell his story of warning.The VCA said they've seen many more accidental poisonings since the legalization of pot in California. The San Diego Humane Society said pet parents need to lock up drugs in their home. McDonald said fellow pet lovers should also keep a watchful eye over their fur babies. 1991
