With less than two weeks until Thanksgiving, the guidelines include things like physical distancing and wearing a mask when not eating or drinking. There are specific guidelines for counties in the purple tier, like San Diego County. Counties in the purple tier are required to gather outdoors. Health officials recommend no more than three households and limiting the gathering to two hours or less. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Border officials seized nearly two tons of drugs valued at millions of dollars at San Diego and Imperial Valley ports of entry last weekend.Between June 14 and June 16, Customs and Border Protection says more than 2,638 pounds of marijuana, 1093 pounds of methamphetamine, and five pounds of heroin were seized after being discovered inside doors, flooring, and other areas of vehicles and a tractor-trailer.In one instance, agents at the Calexico Port of Entry stopped a 34-year-old driver on Friday and referred the driver to a secondary inspection. There, canine agents made a positive detection and the port's imaging system discovered anomalies inside the vehicles flooring.Agents uncovered 40 packages of methamphetamine hidden in the vehicle.The same day, a tractor-trailer was stopped at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, arriving from Mexico with a shipment listed as "watermelons and cactus." An officer referred the driver to a secondary inspection, where a canine officer alerted agents to a positive detection in pallets of watermelons.Agents found 311 packages of marijuana, worth an estimated ,557,000, intermixed with the fruit.During another incident on June 16, agents at the San Ysidro Port of Entry stopped a 35-year-old man where a secondary inspection revealed 86 packages of methamphetamine, with a street value of 3,700.All drivers were turned over to Homeland Security agents for processing and all vehicles and narcotics were seized by CBP. 1494

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Coaster service through San Diego County will be unavailable for two weekends this month.To give crews time to complete infrastructure improvements along the rail corridor, North County Transit District announced Coaster service from Oct. 19-20 and 26-27 would be shut down.On Fridays before the closures, southbound Amtrak R2R trains A792 and A796 will make their trips to Santa Fe Depot, but Amtrak train A590 will stop at Oceanside Transit Center.During the service shut down, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink will not provide service to Oceanside Transit Center. Trips on connecting buses will need an Amtrak reservation. Amtrak bus services will also need an Amtrak reservation. Rail 2 Rail passes are not eligible.Bus service connecting Coaster stations will not be available, but some passengers may have BREEZE Route 101 or MTS connections available.While no passenger rail service will operate on the corridor during these times, other vehicles and equipment will be in use. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — As the U.S. prepares for the possibility of a coronavirus vaccine, San Diego County public health officials detailed what groups will see the vaccine first.San Diego County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten said the state anticipates receiving 327,000 doses in mid-December, with about 28,000 doses heading to San Diego County.According to the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the phases for vaccine distribution will follow:Phase 1A: Healthcare personnel, nursing home residents, nursing home employeesPhase 1B: People with underlying medical conditionsPhase 2: Teachers, school staff, child care workers, food supply chain workers; Critical workers in industries essential to the function of society; People in and staff working at correctional facilities; All older adults not in Phase 1Phase 3: Children and young adults 30 and younger, critical workers not in Phase 1 or 2Phase 4: Everyone else living in the U.S.Wooten added that the county's first round of vaccines will have to go toward Phase 1A, and that there are well over 28,000 people in the first phase alone."It's not just doctors and nurses, it's other healthcare personnel that might take food to individuals in their room that would have COVID-19 or maintenance or janitors," Wooten said of the Phase 1A group on Wednesday.
