Atlanta police released images late Sunday of a second person of interest in the fatal shooting of an 8-year-old girl on the Fourth of July. Authorities are also offering a ,000 reward for information in the death of Secoriea Turner. At least two shooters were believed to be responsible for her death. Police had released a short video of the first person of interest last week. Photos were released Sunday night of the second person of interest.According to Crime Stoppers in Atlanta, the preliminary investigation suggests the young girl was riding in a car with her mother and an adult friend when they were confronted by a group of people blocking the entrance to a parking lot. At some point, someone in the group opened fire on the car, hitting it several times and striking the child. The driver headed to a nearby hospital, and Turner died from her injuries. Both persons of interest are seen in the images carrying rifles. The fatal shooting happened near the Wendy's where Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by a police officer. 1051

Attorneys for the suspect in a deadly shooting at a Kentucky grocery store entered not guilty pleas on his behalf during his arraignment Friday.Gregory Bush, a 51-year-old white man, is accused of fatally shooting two African-Americans in the Kroger grocery store in Jeffersontown, and in the parking lot. Authorities have said the shootings appear to be racially motivated.Bush has been charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and two counts of wanton endangerment for the October 24 shooting."It's particularly in times of loss and tragedy that our Constitution and our laws can be particularly tested, so Mr. Bush, of course, has rights to due process and a fair trial that we all are honored to have," public defender Angie Ellerman told CNN affiliate WAVE. 795
BAKERSFIELD, California — Several students from East Bakersfield High School were arrested on Thursday after two fights broke out on campus, according to the Kern High School District. The two fights were unrelated, according to KHSD spokesperson Lisa Krch. Seven students were arrested by KHSD Police. One fight was recorded and the behavior shown is "clearly unacceptable," Krch said.A graphic video has been circulating social media that appears to show a student being jumped and assaulted by a group of other students. The post claims the student suffered a broken neck and was hospitalized, but that has not been confirmed by KHSD. KHSD cannot confirm that video is one of the fights that happened Thursday.KHSD said the incident has been investigated and appropriate student discipline will be implemented. The district cannot comment on student discipline due to FERPA laws protecting the individual right of students, Krch said. 978
At least 71 people were killed and 325 others wounded in rebel-held Eastern Ghouta after the Syrian government carried out a series of airstrikes and artillery bombardments, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Monday.Sixty-two of the victims were civilians, including nine children and five women. Nine militants were killed, the group said of the attacks near Damascus over a 24-hour period.CNN could not independently verify the claim. The Eastern Ghouta area has been surrounded by Syrian forces for more than four years, with the siege intensifying last May when government forces conducted a large-scale offensive. It was supposed to be one of the "de-escalation zones," according to the peace agreement struck by Russia, Turkey and Iran in May 2017.About 400,000 Syrians have been killed since the conflict erupted in 2011, according to the United Nations. As many as 5.4 million Syrians have left their country, the UN Refugee Agency said, and 6.1 million are displaced from their homes but still inside Syria. The UNHCR High Commissioner, Filippo Grandi, calls the situation in Syria "the biggest humanitarian and refugee crisis of our time."The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company.
