SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A tortoise no longer on the loose is still waiting for its rightful owner in East County.The tortoise, believed to be an older male, was found Thursday by Heartland Paramedics.It was roaming the streets of El Cajon and is now staying at the El Cajon Animal Shelter.Workers there say this is not a situation they often face.“Not in the City of El Cajon," said Shelter Manager Jill Jones. "Perhaps in outer-lying counties, they have a little more tortoise traffic, but we generally do not."A family who saw the original 10News story believed the tortoise was their beloved pet Frankie who went missing a week ago. However, upon arrival at the shelter, they quickly realized this tortoise was much larger.If you believe the tortoise is yours, you can go to the shelter during regular business hours. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Active military members are saying thank you to those who have served by delivering food to veterans in honor of Veterans Day.The servicemen and women partnered with Meals on Wheels to deliver the food Monday.Meals on Wheels serves about 500 veterans a day. Many of them can't leave their homes. Local Navy members say they decided to help deliver the items to say thank you for their service. "It's everyone's responsibility to take care of the previous generations," says Petty Officer First Class Ryian Harris. He served in World War II and was then shipped to Korea. He says it's nice to have the active service members think of him this Veteran's Day. "It's special, very special," says Keller. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego student has been named among those killed when an international flight bound for Ukraine crashed in Iran.Sara Saadat was a student at Alliant International University in Scripps Ranch. She was a passenger on Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752, according to the school.In a statement to 10News, Saadat was visiting family in Iran and was heading back to San Diego to begin the spring 2020 semester. She was enrolled in the university's clinical psychology program."We extend our deepest sympathies to family and friends of Alliant Student Sara Saadat. Sara was a passenger on Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 that crashed in Iran. It appears that Sara was visiting family in Iran and was on her way back to San Diego to begin our spring 2020 term in our PsyD in Clinical Psychology program," the school's statement read.
