BOONE COUNTY, Ind. -- An Indiana Sheriff's deputy who was shot while assisting police early Friday morning will not survive his injuries according to the Boone County Sheriff.  Deputy Jacob Pickett was critically injured in a shooting while assisting the Lebanon Police Department with a pursuit of a wanted individual. He is being kept alive on life support so that his organs can be donated. At least one other law enforcement officer on the scene returned fire, striking one of the suspects.Pickett was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis where he was last listed in critical condition. The injured suspect, identified as Anthony Bumgarht, 21, is in stable condition at this time. Two other suspects, John D. Baldwin Sr., 55, and John D, Baldwin Jr., 28, both fled after the shooting. Baldwin Jr. was arrested a short time later after a wrong-way pursuit on I-65.   926

Britain's big Brexit decision was delayed on Monday, as Prime Minister Theresa May pulled the plug on Tuesday's parliamentary vote on her deal for the country to leave the European Union.The decision was taken in the face of predictions she would suffer a disastrous defeat that could threaten to end her premiership and topple the government.May told the UK House of Commons that she had listened "very carefully to what has been said in this chamber and out of it," which was met by laughter and jeering by members of parliament."It is clear that while there is broad support for many of the key aspects of the deal, on one issue -- the Northern Ireland backstop, there remains widespread and deep concern," May said in the statement.The embattled British leader said that if the vote were to go ahead Tuesday as planned, "it would be rejected by a significant margin.""We will therefore defer the vote scheduled for tomorrow and not proceed to divide the house at this time," May added.The Prime Minister said she had hoped changes secured to the backstop to avoid being trapped in it indefinitely would be enough for MPs but said she will now travel to meet representatives of other EU states to seek further assurances. Despite the doctor's warning, the crew stayed the course while the doctor and flight attendants tried to treat Brittany, who was 25 years old at the time. She was taken to a hospital immediately upon landing, but died three days later.Now her family is suing the airline for wrongful death.Brad Cranshaw, the attorney for Brittany's husband and her parents, told CNN Friday the family's main objective isn't winning a financial settlement.They want the airline to re-examine its policy and procedures so this won't happen to anyone else, he said."The family wants something (they) can't have, and that's Brittany back," Cranshaw said.
