The American Hockey League is targeting a Feb. 5 start date for next season. The AHL's board of governors determined that projected start date during a call Wednesday. The AHL is the top minor league affiliate of the NHL, which is targeting a Jan. 1 start for the season. A typical AHL season usually starts after the NHL gets underway. NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly says he doesn't expect the AHL announcement to affect the NHL's planning. The Barron County Sheriff is asking the public for help in the search for 13-year-old Jayme Closs, who went missing after her parents were shot to death in their Barron, Wisconsin home. The sheriff said they need 100 people to help search the intersection of State Highway 8 and 16th Street at 2 p.m. in Barron. Barron County officials will be there to greet volunteers. Closs has been ruled out as a suspect in the double homicide and the sheriff says they believe she is in danger. Volunteers need photo identification and need to be able to walk over uneven terrain. Please wear proper footwear and bring your own water. Once 100 people are available, the sheriff said they will turn everyone else away.  745

The only mention of smoking in the amendment’s language and in an intent document during the 2016 campaign was that the Legislature and local governments could restrict it in public places.The Legislature last year passed enacting laws that banned the sale of smoking products, saying that it poses a health risk.Orlando lawyer and medical-marijuana advocate John Morgan filed a lawsuit that brought the case in front of a Tallahassee judge who ruled that Florida's current smokable weed prohibition is unconstitutional.
