PETERSBURG, Fla. — Two assisted living facilities in St. Petersburg have been shut down after deplorable conditions were discovered.The St. Petersburg Police Department said they shut down two assisted living facilities after they discovered they had no running water, no power and broken windows. Officers said they also found drug paraphernalia.The two facilities are both run by Tampa Bay Behavioral Health.Officers said nine disabled adults have been displaced. (AP) — Rapper Lil Wayne has pleaded guilty to a federal charge that he possessed a weapon despite being a convicted felon following a 2019 search of a private plane in the Miami area. The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, entered the plea Friday during a hearing held remotely before U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams. Williams set a Jan. 28 sentencing date. The charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, but it's likely Carter would get less time. SOUTH PADRE, Texas — A Minnesota woman accused of murdering her husband before killing a Bradenton woman in order to steal her identity was arrested on Thursday in Texas, according to the US Marshal's office.Lois Riess was facing second-degree murder charges in Rochester, Minnesota in the shooting death of her husband, David Riess, in March. She then allegedly fled to Southwest Florida, where she befriended 59-year-old Pamela Hutchinson, of Bradenton, and targeted her due to their similar appearance. Investigators said Riess murdered Hutchinson in Fort Myers Beach, then took her ID and car and fled Southwest Florida. She was believed to have traveled through the Gulf coast states to Corpus Cristi, Texas. 766

It was part of the work done by Motivate and Encourage Music Appreciation (MeMa Music), an arts-integrated social justice education group that aims to empower youth in underserved communities to use their voices to advocate for social justice and change. They help build students’ understanding of how artists have crafted messages of social change that encouraged speaking out.But the founder, Jeanne Warsaw, has run into an artist block this year with the pandemic. Although virtual learning has become more commonplace, it’s not that easy for the arts.“It’s very difficult, especially for the arts non-profit that specifically teaches instruments or sculpture or paintings,” Warsaw said. “It’s hard to transfer to remote learning.”Warsaw says many school districts aren’t hiring groups like theirs because they’re focused on implementing their curriculum. MeMa is not the only non-profit impacted.The Arts Education Partnership is a network of more than 100 organizations dedicated to advancing arts education. Several Hilltown, Pennsylvania, police officers helped save a distressed horse from a burning barn last week, which was captured by an officer’s body-worn camera.Officer Matthew Reiss told KYW-TV that he did not have much time to get Phoebe the horse out of the barn."Quickly improvise, and come up with a solution to get that animal out,” Reiss said.Other horses were in the barn at the time of the fire and were rescued by friends and family, but Phoebe was reportedly too spooked to follow.That’s when the officers and horse trainer Lena Obernesser teamed to get Phoebe out. Obernesser used a shirt to cover her eyes and push the horse to safety as Reiss used a rope to pull Phoebe to safety. Phoebe then ran to safety."She was definitely terrified, the cops were fantastic though, they jumped right in,” Obernesser told KYW. “I saw the footage and I was just in awe. Like oh my God, thank God they were here."Obernesser credited the officers for rescuing Phoebe.“They really stepped up, we had so many people reaching out,” she said. “it was, I was so proud to be a part of this community."After a week, Phoebe is reportedly in good health. The condition of the barn is still being calculated, but members of the community have started a fundraiser to help the Red Wing Farm care for their horses. 1309
