BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Beijing will strengthen its efforts to treat PM2.5 and slash the density of major air pollutants by 2 percent this year, the municipality's acting mayor said Tuesday.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection issued a circular asking local authorities to step up analysis on air pollution trends and publicize information via mass media outlets in a timely manner.
Network service providers, other government-sponsored institutions and companies, as well as government agencies and their personnel, should strictly ensure the protection of personal digital information, it says.
The number of violations dropped due to revised traffic rules, which came into force on Jan. 1, according to the ministry.
"We have noticed relevant reports and commentaries," Hong said at a regular news briefing.
