As movie theaters nationally start to close amid the spread of the coronavirus, NBCUniversal announced a number of movies will be released on streaming platforms. "The Hunt," "The Invisible Man" and "Emma" will be available through streaming services at the end of the week. The movies will be available for a 48-hour rental period at a suggested retail price of .99 in the U.S.Also, "Trolls World Tour," which was slated to be released next month, will be on streaming platforms starting on Friday. “Universal Pictures has a broad and diverse range of movies with 2020 being no exception. Rather than delaying these films or releasing them into a challenged distribution landscape, we wanted to provide an option for people to view these titles in the home that is both accessible and affordable,” said Jeff Shell, CEO, NBCUniversal. “We hope and believe that people will still go to the movies in theaters where available, but we understand that for people in different areas of the world that is increasingly becoming less possible.”NBCUniversal added that it will continue to monitor the situation, and consider releasing more titles to streaming platforms. 1177

As part of a series of tweets on Friday morning, President Donald Trump said that the government would be partially shut down for a "very long time" if the Senate does not vote in favor of a spending bill that allocates billion for a border wall with Mexico."The Democrats, whose votes we need in the Senate, will probably vote against Border Security and the Wall even though they know it is DESPERATELY NEEDED. If the Dems vote no, there will be a shutdown that will last for a very long time. People don’t want Open Borders and Crime!" Trump tweeted. The lame duck Republican-controlled House of Representatives approved a spending bill on Thursday evening that fully funds Trump's border wall. The vote passed 217-185 with no votes from Democrats. The bill is considered dead on arrival in the Senate, where the margin of Republicans to Democrats is currently 51-49. Sixty votes are needed to pass the spending bill.Trump also tweeted a call for the Senate to switched to the so-called "nuclear option": Changing the Senate rules to limit debate and allow budget laws to pass through the chamber with a simply majority as opposed to 60 votes.Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has long been reluctant to deploy such an option for legislative options. The Senate passed a spending bill earlier this week that did not provide any funding for a border wall. After initially indicating he would sign the bill if it passed the House of Representatives, Trump backtracked on Thursday and announced he would only sign a bill the funded the government if it provided funds to build a border wall in its entirety. In a meeting with Democratic congressional leaders last week, President Trump took ownership of a potential government shutdown and 1757
BALTIMORE — After three months of investigating, Baltimore Police revealed a startling update on the murder of Jacquelyn Smith, which had family members asking the question, "why?"Sunday afternoon, acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison announced the crime was staged and that Jacquelyn Smith's husband, Keith Smith, 52, and his 28-year-old daughter Valeria Shavon Smith had been charged with her murder.Harrison said police in Texas arrested the two Sunday morning near the U.S.-Mexico border after word got around they were trying to leave the country. "During the course of our investigation, we developed evidence that Mr. Smith was leaving Maryland," Harrison said Sunday. "So we made the appropriate national notifications and the Texas State Police arrested him this morning." Baltimore police released photos of both suspects. Keith Smith's is a driver's license picture, Valeria Smith's photo is a mugshot from a prior arrest. Harrison says detectives will reveal what made them focus in on the pair of suspects during their trial. "People took advantage of Baltimore," Harrison told reporters. "We want to make sure that the truth comes out and justice is done." It was early Saturday morning on December 1, 2018, when Smith was reportedly 1277
