BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan Monday pledged to work with Cuba to lift the friendly bilateral relationship to a new level.Wang made the remarks while meeting with Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Vice President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba.Cabrisas is in China to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.Cuba was the first Latin American nation to forge diplomatic relations with China, in 1960.Wang spoke highly of the development of China-Cuba ties over the past half a century, noting that the two countries have always supported each other and enjoyed frequent high level visits.China will work with Cuba to expand win-win cooperation and strengthen economic and trade links with a view to further advancing bilateral ties, Wang said.Wang said China will continue to help Cuba within its capacity.Cabrisas thanked China for offering economic and technological assistance to his country.He said Cuba will make concerted efforts with China to promote pragmatic cooperation in various sectors while pushing forward the existing sound bilateral relationship.

DUBLIN, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Li Changchun said here Sunday that Beijing and Dublin have huge potential to deepen bilateral ties and cooperation.Since the two sides established diplomatic relations 31 years ago,bilateral relations have developed steadily, said Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, upon his arrival for a two-day official goodwill visit.Especially in recent years, China and Ireland have increased high-level exchanges, carried out fruitful and mutually-beneficial cooperation in various fields including politics, trade, education, culture and science and technology, and maintained close coordination on international affairs, he noted.Li Changchun (L, Front), a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, is welcomed by Irish officials upon his arrival in Dublin, capital of Ireland, on Sept. 26, 2010. BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- An outraged Chinese public has been flooding the Internet with its intense displeasure and protests over Japan's illegal detention of a Chinese trawler and its crew in the past few days.Japan detained Chinese captain Zhan Qixiong and his fellow crew of 14 members on September 7 after the trawler they were abroad collided with two Japanese coast guard patrol vessels near the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea.The crewmembers and the boat returned to China on September 13, but Japan extended the illegal detention of Zhan by 10 days on Sunday.Since the incident, "Diaoyu Islands" and "Zhan Qixiong" have become the most searched terms in China's Internet community, the world's largest online community with more than four billion Internet users.Also, Internet bulletin boards on several major Chinese news portals have been overwhelmed with tens of thousands of messages saying that the Diaoyu Islands have always been an integral part of China and it's within the rights of Chinese fishermen to fish in the waters around the islands.Above all, these messages call for Japan to immediately and unconditionally release Zhan."The seizure of our trawler and captain causes an enormous damage to the Chinese people.
