Developers say in an effort to be transparent they are holding a community meeting on Wednesday.Two developers experienced in affordable housing are leading the project. They call the 50-unit proposal “Permanent Supporting Housing” meaning services will be available on-site.If the complex houses the chronically homeless, neighbors worry about tenants with substance abuse disorders or serious mental illness.The community meeting will take place Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the SDG&E Energy Innovation Center on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. 653

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego police officer was involved in a shooting outside a music venue in downtown San Diego just before 7 p.m. Saturday.San Diego Police Lt. Mike Holden said that a white man in his thirties was acting violently on top of a vehicle hood on the corner of W. Ash Street and India Street.The man was only wearing pants and did not have a shirt or shoes on and was standing on the hood of a car yelling at the driver, police said. A police officer tried to take the man into custody and used a Taser, which did not subdue him. Police said the man continued to act violently.The officer then fired one shot, which did not hit anybody."The officer continued to struggle with the suspect," said Lt. Mike Holden of the San Diego Police Department. "At one point during the struggle the officer feared for his life. The officer fired one round from his handgun, but missed the suspect."The suspect, Brent Zadina, 30, was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for observation. Police do not believe Zadina was armed.The officer sustained minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital, Holden said. Police are investigating the incident near the Music Box. The roads were closed nearby for the investigation but have since reopened.This is a developing story. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A woman was left laying in a gutter with a broken pelvis in Pacific Beach after a vehicle hit her and fled the scene Friday.San Diego Police say the 27-year-old woman was walking in the area of 4300 Ingraham St. at about 11:30 p.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound hit her. The vehicle fled the scene, leaving the woman in a gutter on the street when officers arrived, SDPD said.RELATED: Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run near Brown Field in Otay MesaThe woman was taken to the hospital with a fractured pelvis and multiple abrasions.There was no description of the vehicle, according to police. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A suspicious backpack prompted a bomb squad response downtown Tuesday afternoon. According to San Diego Fire-Rescue, the incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. just outside the federal building on the 800 block of Front Street. Authorities say a security guard at the building saw a man acting suspiciously before tossing a military backpack into a planter. After using special equipment to examine the bag, the bomb squad found only personal items inside the bag. The FBI said it sent agents to the scene, but that the "matter is being led by Federal Protective Services." 596
