Seth Lookhart was convicted Friday of 46 counts of felony medical assistance fraud and scheming to defraud, plus misdemeanor counts of illegally practicing dentistry and reckless endangerment. The conviction followed a five-week bench trial before Anchorage Superior Court Judge Michael Wolverton, who wrote the state's evidence was overwhelming. The felony charges carry a possible sentence of up to 10 years in prison. 597
Accused bank robbers and deputies in Richland County, South Carolina engaged in a shootout following a car chase last Friday. According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department, the three male suspects entered a bank wearing masks and carrying guns and demanded money. As the suspects fled, a vehicle description was given to deputies who attempted to pull the vehicle over. One of the suspects drove the car into a dead end where they got out of the vehicle and shot at deputies. One of the deputies, Captain Chris Duke, shot one of the suspects in the lower body.The suspects then got into a second vehicle and fled. That chase came to and end with a collision, and all three suspects were arrested. Deputies arrested Devanta Boyd, Devin Mincey and Daniel Williams. They will be charged with two counts of attempted murder and bank robbery, the Richland County Sheriff's Department said.None of the deputies involved were injured. 949

A new study found 9/11 first responders may face a heightened risk of developing leukemia, nearly two decades after the terror attacks.Moshe Shapiro is a biostatistician with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His team studied 29,000 members of the World Trade Center Health Program, which consists of police officers and other recovery workers.“Leukemia, we found a 41% increase in incidence compared to the general population,” Shapiro told PIX11.Researchers have long known about the substances recovery workers were exposed to in the dust and debris. Shapiro said this latest study shows illnesses like leukemia may continue to develop long after exposure. 682
