Nestle and Starbucks are teaming up to create a "global coffee alliance."Under the deal, Nestle will pay .2 billion to market, sell and distribute Starbucks' packaged products around the world, the companies said Monday.Nestle already has a significant presence in the coffee business with well-known brands like Nescafe and Nespresso. It's now adding Starbucks coffee and tea products to the list. The agreement only covers Starbucks' packaged goods sold outside the US company's stores. It doesn't include Starbucks' ready-to-drink coffee, tea or juices.Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson said the deal "will bring the Starbucks experience to the homes of millions more around the world."The deal still needs approval from regulators and is expected to be finalized in summer or early fall this year, the companies said.About 500 Starbucks employees will join Nestle under the agreement, the Switzerland-based company said.It said the Starbucks packaged goods business generates annual revenue of about billion a year.  1031

NEW YORK — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced new guidance for bars and restaurants statewide Thursday. The governor says bars and restaurants in the state are now only allowed to serve alcohol to those who order food. He also announced that all service at bar tops must only be for those seated six feet apart or separated by physical barriers.Cuomo cited a lack of compliance on social distancing and the wearing of face coverings in bars and restaurants across the state."As we continue our science-based phased reopening, the number of hospitalizations and our rate of positive tests remain steady and low," Cuomo said. "But we need to remember our success fighting this virus is a function of our own actions. Mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing — basic as they may seem — are critical to controlling the spread of this virus. Especially now that we are seeing spikes in cases throughout the country, this is not the time to let up — especially on compliance enforcement. We know the prescription, and we know it works — we just need to be smart and do it."Cuomo's order was met with hesitancy by some local politicians. Erie County Legislature Minority Joe Lorigo said he planned to challenge the order in court."The Governor's announcement that bars and restaurants are no longer able to serve customers unless they order food with drinks is another egregious overreach of power. It is also yet another blow to bars, restaurants, and their employees that have taken multiple financial hits due to COVID-19," Lorigo said. "We cannot allow the Governor to continue haphazardly creating rules and regulations that only serve to hurt small businesses."This story was originally published by Anthony Reyes on WKBW in Buffalo. 1750

NEW YORK -- Lori Gaeta gets a cup of coffee every day at a cafe on Lexington Avenue in New York City.Last week, she got a cup coffee and started a conversation with a homeless man that changed both of their lives.Gaeta says she met the homeless man, named William, on 61st Street. It was a conservation she couldn't get out of her mind.“He was paralyzed in a broken down wheelchair. I just felt he could use a blessing,” said Gaeta. All she knew about him is he is 61 years old and his name is William, he became paralyzed and is now homeless. She noticed his wheelchair was being held together with duct tape and was falling apart. She asked him if it was alright for her to get him a new chair.Gaeta sprung into action and started an online quest asking for help posting on a site called Nextdoor. Generous New Yorkers immediately came forward offering used chairs. Then a total stranger, named Elizabeth Menegan, offered to buy William a new chair, spending over 0.“You know that saying it takes a village to raise a child? Well, this took an entire neighborhood to bless this man. He has no idea he had a brand new chair coming to him,” said Gaeta.William says he is grateful for the generosity of so many strangers.“I don’t know her but I give her respect,” said William.Gaeta says this story is more than getting William a wheelchair, she hopes that she can help William find a home. This story was originally published by Monica Morales at WPIX. 1459

Next week will be the most-traveled in the history of flying, travel analysts are predicting.Records will be set, those in the travel industry say. There will be huge crowds moving through airports to visit family and friends for Thanksgiving. It won't be easy for air travelers, especially on Wednesday, Nov. 21, ValuePenguin reports. Most travelers know to get to airports well ahead of their departure times. But seriously, go early — it will be the busiest day of the year for airports, and the extra time is crucial to making it to a terminal on time. 583

NEW YORK CITY — A worker that helped put up this year's iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree found a special gift inside its branches.Wildlife rehabilitation experts said they received a call Monday about an owl that the employee rescued from the branches of the tree. The worker tucked the saw-whet owl away in a box, and it was transported safely to the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center, where he's being tended to and is said to be in good condition.Once he gets a clean bill of health, he'll be released back into the wild.In the meantime, he's getting plenty of fluids and mice and even has a new name that fits just right — Rockefeller. 648
