BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a reception in Beijing Monday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. Addressing the event, Chen Haosu, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), a major non-governmental organization, said, "The friendship between the two countries had endured the test of time and changes in the world." LJUBLJANA, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu arrived in Slovenia on Wednesday evening on a two-day official visit to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.     Hui, who was accompanied by a strong business delegation, will on Thursday hold talks with Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor, President Danilo Tuerk, Parliament Speaker Pavel Gantar and Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar. These talks are expected to focus on the boosting of economic cooperation as well as the world economic crisis.     Officials from both countries will sign five documents expectedto strengthen the cooperation in areas of agriculture, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), health care and education.     On Thursday afternoon Hui and Pahor will attend and address a plenary session of the Chinese-Slovenian business forum.     According to the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the business forum will be attended by representatives of 60 Chinese companies from the fields of construction, engineering, telecommunications, electronics, trade, as well as textile, chemical, food and banking industries.     Slovenia is the first leg of Hui's three-nation visit, which will also take him to Lithuania and Latvia. Hui will also attend the third World Climate Conference, which is scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4.

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao on Wednesday pledged to further assist the development of other developing countries when addressing the UN General Assembly during its the general debate.     "As a responsible and major developing country, China has always made common development an important aspect of its foreign policy," Hu said in his speech.     "We have made great efforts to provide support and assistance to other developing countries, and fulfilled our commitment under the UN Millennium Declaration," he said.     To further assist other developing countries, the Chinese president said, China will increase support for those hit hard by the global financial crisis, earnestly implement relevant capital increase and financing plans, intensify trade and investment cooperation and help raise their capacity for risk-resistance and sustainable development.     "China will continue to implement the measures announced at the UN High-level Event on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to assist other developing countries in speeding up development and facilitate the attainment of the MDGs," he added. BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese food and drug regulators are required to report food accidents to their superiors and local health authorities within six hours, according to a government draft regulation Thursday.     The draft, issued by the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), demands that once accidents occur involving 30 or more people, food and drug regulators at or above the county level should report them to their superiors and local health authorities within six hours.     With regard to food safety accidents that occur on campuses, during important nationwide festivities, involve 100 people or more, or kill one or more people, food and drug regulators should not only abide by the "six hour regulation," but also report them to the SFDA "in a timely manner," according to the draft.     Catering service runners, should they find food accidents, are asked to immediately stop using all suspicious food and cooking facilities and protect the site. They are also required to report to medical authorities and food regulators at or above the county level within two hours.     The draft regulation also stipulates that heads at schools, companies or government organs will be held accountable if food accidents occur twice in one year in their cafeterias.     The SFDA also asked food and drug regulators at all levels to formulate emergency plans to deal with food accidents based on local conditions.
