MOSCOW, May 13 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo said here Wednesday the strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Russia is currently showing a momentum all-round and rapid growth, as high-level contact remains frequent.    Wu said in recent years, China-Russia relations have been lifted to new stages as cooperation in all fields reached an unprecedentedly high level. He expressed the wish that the presidents of the two countries will have more meetings later this year, saying he expects President Hu to pay a state visit to Russia in June. Medvedev also expects to meet with President Hu during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and the summit of "BRIC" countries, namely Brazil, Russia, Indian and China later this year.     In order to push for long-term, healthy and stable growth of China-Russia relations, Wu suggested that the two countries should enhance political trust and share mutual understanding and support on major issues concerning each other's core interest. The two countries should maintain consultation and cooperation on regional and international affairs so as to push for multipolarization and democratization of international relations.     Wu said the two countries should also strengthen cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, energy, investment and local exchanges. He said the two sides should earnestly carry out the cooperation agreements they have already signed. Wu expressed the wish that the two sides should actively overcome difficulties in progress and practically resolve existing problems in their cooperation so as to secure bilateral trade from the impact of global financial storm this year.     Wu said the two countries should step up dialogues and cooperation on financial issues. SHENYANG, June 27 (Xinhua) -- China's steel giant, Ansteel, had got government approval to increase its stake in Australian iron ore explorer Gindalbie Metals, a spokesman with Ansteel said Saturday.     The approval came Tuesday, allowing the Anshan Iron and Steel Group (Ansteel) in northeast China's Liaoning Province to increase its interest in Gindalbie from 12.6 percent to 36.28 percent to become its biggest shareholder, according to the spokesman of Ansteel.     The purchase will be finished within a week. Then the two sides will invest a 534-million-Australian dollar in Karara iron ore project in western Australia, with a 50-50 ownership.     Gindalbie proposed Ansteel buy more of its shares in August last year. The application was approved by the board of Gindalbie early February.

WASHINGTON, June 10 (Xinhua) -- China's National People's Congress (NPC) and the U.S. House of Representatives have wrapped up their 10th meeting under a parliamentary exchange mechanism in Washington after having an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral ties, inter-parliamentary exchanges, global financial crisis, climate change and international and regional issues of mutual concern.     The meeting, held here on Tuesday, was co-chaired by Chairman Li Zhaoxing of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee and Representative Joseph Crowley, chairman of the counterpart exchange mechanism in the House.     During the meeting, the Chinese side said that with growing common interests and greater opportunities of cooperation, China and the U.S. should further increase mutual trust and cooperation from strategic and long-term perspectives, respect and take care of each other's core interests, handle differences and sensitive issues with prudence, and ensure a healthy, stable growth of bilateral relationship.     The U.S. side reaffirmed the importance it has attached to the U.S.-China relationship and said that the House of Representatives will work to help the two countries tackle issues such as global financial crisis, climate change and energy safety through further exchanges and dialogues with NPC.     Both delegations agreed that the existing parliamentary exchange mechanism has become the most direct and effective platform for communications between the two sides and has played a positive role in deepening mutual understanding, building consensus and promoting cooperation.     The two sides also discussed the necessity for the two countries to strengthen coordination in macro economic and financial policies and how to cooperate in dealing with the climate change issue.     The Chinese side extended an invitation to the U.S. side on a visit to China in fall this year for the 11th meeting under the parliamentary exchange mechanism.
