(KGTV) - The mother of two girls found dead in their San Bernardino County home will be charged with their murders when she is released from the hospital, Ontario police said Thursday. Officers said Linda Nguyen, 47, was placed under arrest and will be booked when she is medically cleared. She is currently unresponsive, police said. The bodies of Nguyen’s daughters, aged 4 months and 14 years, were discovered by their father Tuesday when he returned home from work. Among the evidence were two suicides notes written by Nguyen “indicating that she intended to kill the children and to kill herself," police Sgt. Bill Russell told reporters. "We do know that the mother was dealing with depression prior to the incident and had dealt with that in the past," he said. (KGTV) -- The Director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday the agency has given the go-ahead for Pfizer and BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine to be administered, CNN reported.The CDC says the vaccine may be given to those 16 and older.The approval means shots can now be given in the United States, CNN reports. Friday, the FDA granted emergency use authorization for the vaccine.Following the announcement, the first trucks carrying vaccines pulled out of a Michigan manufacturing plant Sunday morning.The Associated Press reported that the initial doses of the vaccine will likely be limited to healthcare workers and those in nursing homes.More than 325,000 doses of the vaccine were making their way to California Sunday as cases continue to spike.So far, the Golden State has seen more than 1,521,000 cases and nearly 21,000 deaths.According to San Diego County officials, the first 28,000 doses of the vaccine will be distributed to Rady Children’s Hospital, UCSD, and the county. 1017

(KGTV) - The husband of a woman whose body was found in Jamul last year was arrested Tuesday in Maryland, San Diego Sheriff Homicide Lt. Richard Williams said.Winnie Whitby, 49, is being held at Talbot County Jail in Easton, Maryland, pending extradition to San Diego County.Melissa Estrada Whitby was reported missing in December 2016. The victim's co-workers had asked sheriff's deputies to perform a welfare check at her home after she failed to arrive for her job as a nursing supervisor at an El Cajon rehabilitation center.RELATED: Missing Jamul woman believed to be murderedA hiker found her body about one week later on a dirt trail off Skyline Truck Trail in Jamul, about a mile from her home.Detectives spent almost two years investigating the case and gathered enough evidence to link Whitby to the crime, said Williams.10News learned Whitby was also questioned for the double-murder of two brothers in Maryland in 1993. 4S RANCH, CA (KGTV) - A rash of street racing on a straightaway in 4S Ranch has neighbors calling for the county to intervene.Surveillance images show the beginning of an illegal street race on Four Gee Road Tuesday morning that ended in a crash.No one was injured, but neighbors are growing weary of the close calls.“This most recent incident was probably the most severe case we’ve ever seen,” said Tony Cesario, who has dozens of the incidents on video.Cesario’s security camera on his back fence caught the moments before a BMW racing a pickup truck ran off the road.“This happens on a weekly basis,” said Michael Chard, another neighbor, “it’s teenagers.”Residents say they call the authorities when it happens, but the drivers are always gone before law enforcement arrives.“At some point, somebody’s going to get killed,” added Chard.The county has previously denied resident’s attempts to add speed bumps on the half-mile long straightway that runs from Mount Gee to Camino Del Norte.A hangup for their efforts is that Four Gee Road is used for fire access.The Rancho Santa Fe Fire District has the final approval for any road alterations as part of the the fire code.A spokesperson says the speed bumps can damage their equipment when they are responding to a fire.Lucy Chard was home when Tuesday’s crash occurred and she says it’s only a matter of time until happens again.“There was a line of kids right down there waiting for the school bus,” said Chard standing where the BMW crashed, “and if this happened a few hundred yards down the road it would have been a different situation.” 1610
