Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' son is running for Congress in New Hampshire.Levi Sanders, 48, said in a statement first reported by WMUR and since posted on his campaign website that he is entering the open-seat race to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter."This is a unique opportunity to listen to the hard working men and women of New Hampshire about the issues that matter to them," he said.The New Hampshire 1st District is one of the nation's most competitive open-seat races in 2018's midterms.Unlike his father, who ran as an independent in Vermont, Sanders is running as a Democrat. He'll be the eighth Democratic candidate to enter the race.Sanders lives in Claremont, New Hampshire, which is outside the 1st District. Members of the US House must live in the state they are running in, but are not required to live in the district.Sanders said in the statement he's worked in Massachusetts as a legal services analyst for 17 years."For 15 years, New Hampshire has been my family's home," he said.Sanders' platform largely mirrors his father's. United Airlines said it's suspending a program that transports pets in cargo holds.It will stop accepting new reservations for its PetSafe program, though it will honor any reservations made through March 20, the airline said.Passengers can still carry small pets with them in carry-on luggage.The suspension comes as United reviews its pet transport policies, a process that should be completed by May 1, United said.United has experienced some major pet-traveling disasters recently. Last week, a small dog died after it was put in the overhead bin on a United flight. Twitter users can now limit who can reply to their tweets.According to a blog post by Twitter's Director of Product Management Suzanne Xie, the new settings were rolled out on Tuesday."Since your Tweet = your space, we've been testing new settings to give people more control over the conversations they start," Xie said in the post. "Sometimes, people are more comfortable talking about what's happening when they can choose who can reply. We've seen people use these settings to have conversations that weren't really possible before. Starting today, everyone will be able to use these settings, so unwanted replies don't get in the way of meaningful conversations."Users can reply with the following three options: everyone, only people the user follows, or only people you, the user, mention. Before, anyone could respond.Xie explained that tweets with limited settings would be labeled, and the reply icon will be grayed out for people who can't reply. Those who can't answer will still be able to view, retweet, retweet with a comment, share, and like the tweets."These settings help some people feel safer and could lead to more meaningful conversations, while still allowing people to see different points of view," Xie said.According to the social media giant, they've received positive feedback. TUCSON, Arizona — A Tucson, Arizona man who had been in an altercation fired a gun at a police officers, hitting one of the officer's belt. The belt prevented a bullet from entering his body.That man, 51-year-old Roy King, was in a bar with his wife and family when an argument started. King's stepson, who was at the bar, called 9-1-1.During the argument in the bar, King allegedly pulled out a handgun and threatened two people. King then headed to his home.Tucson police officers went to the home in response to the 9-1-1 call and found King's vehicle in the driveway. When the officers approached the car, King started to yell at them from the backyard. He still had the handgun.During the confrontation between King and two officers, gunfire was exchanged. One of the rounds fired by King hit an officer's duty belt. The belt stopped the bullet from injuring the officer.King then went inside his home and called 9-1-1. Additional TPD officers went to the home and were able to talk King into coming outside. He was not injured and was taken into custody.Roy King was booked into Pima County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. One for the incident at the bar, and one for the incident at the home.The incident is still under investigation. 1310
