After dozens of puppies were found in rural Pottawattamie County, Iowa with no food and water before being rescued Sunday, authorities ramped up their investigation into Young Gunz Kennel.They obtained a search warrant and confiscated items for several hours Tuesday.Sheriff deputies and animal control personnel hauled away a large number of kennels that were at the unlicensed facility, which was used for obedience and hunting training, as well as dog breeding. Investigators could also be seen snapping photos and collecting additional evidence that they could find at the site, which housed as many as 50 dogs before many of them were found inside their kennels severely malnourished. A total of four dogs have now been found dead, and 10 are missing.Copper was one of the dogs that was rescued on Sunday. When his owner Wil Beach picked him up, Copper had lost 20 pounds and was covered in feces. "He was very scared but still in high spirits, he was the same dog emotionally when I got him (back) than when I dropped him off,” says Beach.Beach says he took Copper and a 0 check to owner Dustin Young in January after high praises from friends. He says he did not suspect anything amiss when he made the drop-off. "When I was there it was neat and clean and organized and he was very talkative and he just seemed like he had a passion for dogs," says Beach.Beach is thankful that his two-year old pup is okay, with no major issues from the abandonment.  1500

ALABASTER, Ala. — A photographer in Alabama was able to capture the beauty of a rare yellow cardinal that is taking the internet by storm. Jeremy Black took the photograph of the rare yellow bird in Alabaster, Alabama.According to Geoffrey Hill, a bird curator at Auburn University in Alabama, the bird is a rare male northern cardinal that has a "one in a million" genetic mutation that makes its red feathers turn yellow. Additionally, the mutation is so rare, that only one is seen each year in the United States."This yellow cardinal displays a rare mutation causes the metabolic process to produce a different type of pigment than the typical red coloration," Black wrote on his Facebook page.Black says that he was able to photograph the yellow cardinal after his friend, Charlie Stephenson, noticed the bird at her feeder in January. According to National Geographic, on February 17, Black spent five hours in Stephenson's backyard with a camera in hand, hoping the beautiful bird would make a second appearance. "As soon as it landed, I was starstruck," Black told National Geographic. After America reached the grim milestone of more than 10 million positive coronavirus cases in just 10 months, healthcare systems in multiple areas around the country are warning their hospital bed capacity is nearing or at 100 percent full.In North Dakota, the governor said this week their hospitals have reached their limit, and depending how the next few weeks go, facilities could be pushed past their capabilities.He issued an urgent plea asking residents to take steps to slow the spread of the coronavirus. He also amended a state order to allow asymptomatic health care workers who test positive for COVID-19 to continue working in COVID-19 units of a healthcare facility.“Our hospitals are under enormous pressure now,” Governor Doug Burgum said. “We can see the future two, three weeks out, and we know that we have severe constraints.”Bergum is asking that businesses and events or gatherings be reduced to 25 percent or a max of 50 people, and said face coverings should be required. However, he did not issue a statewide mask mandate.In Iowa, UnityPoint Health Des Moines, which runs four hospitals in the capital city, says they are at capacity and all their beds are full.Polk County, where Des Moines is located, saw the most new hospitalizations on one day Monday, with 191 new coronavirus patients.The county has issued a “plea to our community to please help in our fight against COVID-19.” They say they are “facing bed shortages and staffing shortages,” and ask people to wear a mask, wash hands, and practice social distancing so the healthcare system does not become overwhelmed.On Monday, the Iowa Health Department said there were more than 1,100 people hospitalized in the state with coronavirus. (CNS) - A 3-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday after the scooter he was riding collided with a compact car in a neighborhood a few miles west of the Viejas Casino.The 2010 Mazda 3 was headed east about 9 a.m. when the unhelmeted youngster rode out of a residential driveway on River Dance Court in Alpine, near South Grade Road in Alpine, and hit the front passenger side of the sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol.Paramedics airlifted the boy to Rady Children's Hospital for treatment of minor to moderately serious trauma, CHP public-affairs Officer Travis Garrow said.The motorist, a 54-year-old El Cajon man, was not expected to be cited in connection with the accident, the spokesman said. 733
