(KGTV) -- Kanye West said on Twitter that he is going to take a break from policy and instead focus on being creative. The announcement comes after he was credited for designing a clothing line aimed at turning black people away from the Democratic Party. In a twitter post on Tuesday, the music award-winning lyricist denied involvement in the design of the "Blexit" logo and T-shirts, or having any connection with the movement."I introduced Candace to the person who made the logo and they didn’t want their name on it so she used mine. I never wanted any association with Blexit. I have nothing to do with it," West tweeted.  646

2020 is turning out to be a stressful time for everyone. You have the pandemic, protests and the upcoming presidential election. All of this tends to make up most of what we see on social media.More time at home means more time online, which can create feelings of anxiety and stress.A new study by Ohio State University shows more than half of people are changing how they use social media. About a fifth of people are taking a break.Mental health experts say, it’s not surprising.“We're hardwired to see the negative,” said Dr. Kenneth Yeager, a professor at Ohio State University. “We're hardwired to see the things that can harm our wellbeing and that's what we tend to see.”Yeager says many people feel like they don't have control.“Find a way to block certain feeds if they're disturbing to you,” he said. “Again, you are in control of a lot of things and there are some things online that you're never going to be able to control.”Yeager says you need to set limits on social media. If you set it to 30 minutes a day, and you feel anxious before that time is over, log off. Go for a walk or work on projects to clear your mind.Yeager says its mind over matter. Look for the positive, whether it's on social media or just everyday life. 1248

(KGTV) - San Diegans will soon have to press a few more buttons — if they’re not already doing so.Starting May 19, everyone will be required to enter the area code then the 7-digit number when making calls or texts to the 619 or 858 area code. The call or message will not go through if you don’t add the area code prefix. For landlines, there’s one more step for callers. They must enter +1 the area code then the 7-digit number or the call will not be completed. The change was approved last year by the California Public Utilities Commission in an effort to prevent the area from running out of phone numbers. The CPUC expects all 619 prefixed number to be used up by early next year while 858 has approximately 30 years of phone numbers left.Experts suggest reprogramming the number with the proper area code prefix in all services like automatic dialing medical systems and alarm systems. The 619 area code largely serves the city of San Diego and portions of the South Bay, but also East County along with some unincorporated areas. The 858 area code spans north from San Diego into La Jolla, Del Mar and Solana Beach, as well as inland to Rancho Santa Fe, Rancho Bernardo and Poway. This change will not affect emergency calls to 911.  1270

“Between 9 and 10 a.m. is when you’ll have the heavier outflow, so it’s still a little early,” said Jeff Bilznick, who collects samples of wastewater at the University of Arizona.8:30 a.m. and some students have yet to wake up to start their day.So outflow of wastewater at this dorm is a little low. So Jeff Bilzinck is getting a smaller bottle to scoop a little poop, so to speak. Not that you’d be able to tell by looking at it“Everyone’s disappointed when it’s not all gross,”Bilzinck said.Bilzinck and his coworker Nick are collecting wastewater from across campus, for this man, So he can test it for COVID-19.“Hi, I’m Dr. Pepper.”No, not that Dr. Pepper. Dr. Ian Pepper is a different kind of liquid genius.“I’m the director of the Water and Energy Sustainable Technology Center,” said Pepper.Dr. Pepper and his team have been testing wastewater for the coronavirus since students came back to campus and early in the school year, stopped a potential outbreak. After wastewater from a dorm came back positive, school officials tested the students living there and identified two asymptomatic students.“The trick is by identifying the asymptomatic cases early, we are, if not eliminating, we are reducing exponential spread of the virus,” said Pepper.Wastewater testing is gaining some steam in the scientific community outside of Arizona.“We as individuals, humans, shed these virus in fecal material,” said Kellog Schwab, the director of the Water Institute at Johns Hopkins University. He has been studying wastewater virology for 30 years. He says what they’re doing in Arizona is complicated.“It is not straight forward. There are a lot of interfering substances as you can imagine in a waste stream that you have to then purify the virus from. It’s not just you grab a sample from a particular part of the environment and then instantly be able to detect the virus. You need to process that sample, you need to maintain the integrity of your target of interest, and then you have to have the appropriate detection,” said Schwab. But he and Dr. Pepper agree that this type of testing could be scaled up and implemented at universities and other populated facilities where COVID-19 could potentially spread.“Wastewater epidemiology has the potential to be scalable,” said Schwab.“Perhaps targeting high-risk areas like nursing homes. We’re helping people in Yuma, Arizona, testing our farm workers when they come here in the fall, so there’s a great deal of potential,” said Pepper.“Many research laboratories have the capacity to do this,” said Schwab. That potential to expand this type of testing, and keep people safe, keeps Pepper going.“We are keeping the university open, which is really important. And, you know, dare I say, actually, probably saving lives,” said Pepper.Saving lives and closing the lid on the coronavirus. 2846

(KGTV) -- The 75-year-old pilot who was killed when his small passenger plane crashed in Northern California Friday night has been identified as Carl Morrison of Fallbrook. Sonoma County Sheriff's Office responded to a call from the US Air Force at about 6:40 p.m. reporting an emergency transponder activation from a small passenger plane in the city of Petaluma, about 40 miles north of San Francisco.  Deputies were dispatched to the location but were unable to locate the plane."Around the same time, a woman from San Diego County had called Petaluma PD and reported her husband was overdue home," said Sgt. Spencer Crum of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.Shortly after 10:00 PM deputies spotted a small fire in a remote ravine near the 3600 block of Manor Lane, Crum said. Deputies reached the location of the fire and discovered the downed aircraft and the body of a man believed to be the pilot. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.Morrison was believed to have left the Petaluma Airport en route to San Diego County in his Mooney M20 fix winged airplane, the sheriff's office said.Bob Morrison, Carl Morrison's oldest son, said that Carl Morrison was a retired U.S. Marine who served twenty years. He was also the Region Vice Commander of the Fallbrook Senior Squadron 87 Civil Air Patrol. He served with them since 2006.In addition to being a father of six, he was a lawyer who owned an environmental consulting company, Bob Morrison said. He was in Northern California on business, returning home, when his plane crashed. Bob Morrison said his father had been flying for 20 years, which was a lifelong dream of his. "He left his mark wherever he went in a positive way," Bob Morrison said. 1794
