A Utah man is suing McDonald's and Coca-Cola's main bottler, Swire Coca-Cola, after he allegedly had his drink spiked at a McDonald's with the heroin substitute Suboxone.In a complaint filed in Utah's Third Judicial District Court, the plaintiff Trevor Walker alleges that his diet coke was spiked on Aug. 12, 2016, at a McDonald's drive-thru in Riverton, Utah.According to the complaint, Walker and his family went through the drive-thru, where they ordered two happy meals, two chicken sandwiches, and two Diet Cokes.Walker drank the beverage as he and his family went home, the complaint stated. While watching his children, Walker said that his fingers became non-responsive, and he began to lose feeling in his arms and legs."My life and being here is the biggest miracle of the whole situation," Walker told KTSU-TV in Utah. "As I started to shift my body, I started to sense almost like a lapse in time, like between the time I would move my hands there was a delay."The complaint said that during the incident, Walker sent the following text messages to his wife:Text No. 1: "Something is vey (sic) wrong with me. I am having sensations in my arms and everything is moving slowly. I'm feeling scared. I don't know what to do."Text No. 2: "I'm so scared I'm trying to be calm. I need you."Soon after sending the texts, the complaint alleges that Walker "blacked out," and fell onto a nearby table and collapsed onto the floor. Walker's wife came home, and he was taken to the emergency room.While at the hospital, the complaint stated that Walker's wife compared her Diet Coke to his, and noticed that his drink had, "speckles and a film on the surface—a fact that Trevor (Walker) was not aware of due to the lid placed by McDonald's on the drink."Walker's wife called the Unified Police Department and reported the suspicious drink. The plaintiff said that police responded to the hospital and took the drink for testing at the Utah State Crime Lab.The complaint said that the Utah State Crime Lab confirmed the drink contained a heroin substitute called buprenorphine or Suboxone. Walker's urine also tested positive for Buprenorphine."The drug negatively interacted with Mr. Walker's medication, causing him to lose feeling in his arms and legs, lose the ability to walk, and eventually lose consciousness," the complaint stated.McDonald's is accused in the complaint of failing to preserve the video recording of the drive-thru area where the alleged drink spiking took place, by deleting the video.Walker demanded a trial by jury in the complaint and sought relief for damages caused to him during the incident.The-CNN-Wire 2648

A trip to "The Happiest Place On Earth" turned into a nightmare, according to an Inland Empire woman who spent two nights at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim. Ivy Eldridge was a guest at the hotel back in April, when she claims she was bitten by bed bugs, suffering physical, financial and emotional damages, according to a complaint filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Eldridge has hired attorney Brian Virag, who specializes in bedbug litigation, to bring a lawsuit against the hotel, along with the Walt Disney Co. and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Virag claims that Eldridge was bitten all over her upper body, including her face, ears, arm, neck and back. "People put trust in the Disney name and pay top dollar to stay at the Disneyland Hotel," Virag said. "In this case, Ms. Eldridge's trust was betrayed." Virag is also currently representing Victoria's Secret model Sabrina Jales St. Pierre, in a bed bug related lawsuit being brought against Embassy Suites Palm Desert. "Bed bugs don't discriminate," Virag said. "They are found in hotels throughout the country and worldwide. A report released from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says a patient died after a nurse at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville selected the wrong medication to give them, putting at risk the hospital's ability to receive Medicare payments.In fact, the paralyzing anesthetic that was given to the patient by mistake is one of the drugs Tennessee uses to execute death row inmates during lethal injections.The incident happened in December of 2017. According to a report conducted by CMS, the patient checked into the hospital with a subdural hematoma and vision loss.The patient was sent to the hospital’s radiology department for a full body scan. When the patient told caregivers they were claustrophobic, doctors prescribed Versed, a standard anti-anxiety sedative.  The report from CMS said a nurse told the patient they were going to give them "something to help him/her relax."The patient instead received a dose of vecuronium from that unnamed nurse.  Vecuronium is a neuromuscular blocking drug that causes paralysis.  As such, the CMS report says it can also stop the body from being able to breathe, in a painful experience for patients, who remain conscious and aware."Patients can experience intense fear when they can no longer breathe.  They can also sense pain," 1418

A suspect has been arrested in the package bombing at a church in Beaumont, Texas, as well as a bomb found outside a Starbucks coffee shop that did not detonate, authorities said Friday.Jonathan M. Torres, 40, of Beaumont, was charged Friday with use of an explosive to cause property damage; possession of an unregistered destructive device (improvised destructive device); and mailing a threatening communication, according to court records.Torres' first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
