SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A mountain lion that scratched a young boy at the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve in Poway last week was captured and killed, state Fish and Wildlife officials told the San Diego Union-Tribune.On June 12, park officials said a 4-year-old boy suffered scratches to his back and thigh after an encounter with the animal on the park grounds.The boy, who was on a hike with his family at the time of the incident, is expected to make a full recovery.RELATED: 4-year-old attacked by mountain lion according to Fish and WildlifeThe park was temporarily closed after the attack.The U-T, citing a Fish and Wildlife official, reported that the mountain lion in the incident was found and killed several hours after the boy was attacked.The official told the newspaper that DNA tests confirmed the animal -- a 2-year-old female weighing 70 pounds -- was the one responsible for scratching the boy. 911

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was rescued from the top of a section of the border wall in Otay Mesa Tuesday.Cal Fire firefighters were called to a section of barrier in Otay Mesa just before 6 a.m. Crews arrived to find one person stuck on top of the border wall structure.Crews used a 35-foot ladder to reach the man and assist him down. No injuries were reported.Tuesday's rescue comes more than a month after San Diego Fire-Rescue firefighters and Border Patrol agents helped rescue three people stuck on top of a portion of the border wall in Otay Mesa. 560

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local businessman is now accused in a child porn case, several years after he managed to get off the sex offender registry.Along Tokalon Street in Bay Park, there is a sense of disbelief. A neighbor of some 7 years - Joseph Welsh - arrested in Fontana over the weekend.Police say parents confronted him and took his phone after he took photos of girls in bathing suits at a birthday party.Search warrants executed at his home and his business - a Segway rental outlet on Mission Boulevard - netted several electronic devices containing child porn, according to investigators.The neighbors' sense of shock was magnified because of what they didn't know about his past: a conviction in the 1990s in San Bernardino county for possessing child porn, and annoyance of a child.Police say in 2014, the courts deemed him not a danger to the public and removed him from the registry.It's a maneuver many can't understand.An acquaintance of Welsh, 47, told 10News those who worked near him became "creeped out" because he was always photographing surf schools and flying drones on the beach.In one instance, concerns led to an acquaintance to warn a teenager who knew Welsh to stay away from him.To search the California Megan's Law website for registry results, click here. 1308

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man from El Salvador has been granted asylum in the United States after having been sent back to Mexico to await his trial.According to his attorney, Narciso Cruz, the man is only the second person to receive asylum who had been sent back to Mexico due to the Trump administration’s Migrant Protection Protocol (MPP.)“This individual is a bit of a rarity,” said Cruz, referring to his client’s success in court.But his story is not a rarity.Marcos fled violence in El Salvador and did no want to use his full name for this story, still fearing the gang he fled in El Salvador.“They’re a terrorist group,” said Marcos.He became targeted earlier this year after he tried to help his cousin who was being recruited by the gang. After he interfered, he started receiving death threats.“They will kill you and your entire family,” he said.He traveled to the United States, crossing the border on June 25 somewhere near Tecate.He said he wandered in the desert for five days before he was eventually picked up by Border Patrol agents and taken to a holding facility. Within a day he said he was sent back across the border to Mexico where he would wait for his case to be heard.The Trump Administration implemented the MPP in January. Despite some pushback from the courts, the policy, also called “remain in Mexico,” was allowed to go forward.As of September 1, the U.S government has sent 42,000 asylum seekers to Mexico, according to the Department of Homeland Security.As for Marcos, his case is not officially done yet. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Mira Mesa mom she says her special needs son was bullied and robbed at his middle school during lunch.Diagnosed at birth with cerebral palsy, Justin Juanengo has surpassed many of the expected physical limitations, but remains unable to use his legs or his left arm. Michelle Juanengo and her husband adopted him at age 2."We've always been worried there would be other kids who would find him an easy target," she said.Last week her fears became a reality. At lunchtime on Wednesday at Wangenheim Middle School, she says a 7th grade classmate and several other students came up to Justin, 13, and started spinning his wheelchair and calling him names."He was nervous, scared. Didn't know where it was going to go from there. There are a lot of things that can go wrong if you're spinning a wheelchair. Were they going to roll him off somewhere?" said Michelle.Justin says it went on for minutes before his friend got the boys to stop. One of the boys then grabbed Justin's backpack and took off. According to his mother, Justin and a friend went to a classroom and found the ringleader, demanding and getting back the backpack. Inside, his wallet containing dollars was gone."Sad, feel terrible for Justin. I feel like he's had to tolerate enough with all his health limitations ... the ways he sees himself as different from other students. Why should he not have the right to go to school and feel safe?" said Michelle.Michelle says her son didn't have an aide with him, which is mandated by the state. She says she has recently learned the aide suffered a back injury last year and the substitute aide is sometimes not available."That's not good enough. He needs to have the aide. That could have prevented this," said Michelle.Another source of frustration? Justin says his bully is known for bullying and stealing from other kids, something Michelle believes should have been addressed earlier. Vice principal Miko Uhuru declined to talk about Justin's case citing privacy. He told 10News one of Justin's parents could sign a waiver, which Michelle says she didn't know about but now plans to sign."What I can says is we don't tolerate bullying.
