(KGTV) - The San Diego Police Department is launching its "bait bike" program in Point Loma and Ocean Beach after its success in Pacific Beach.The program outfits bikes with GPS devices that notify officers when a bike is being stolen. (LEX 18) — A new poll released Tuesday shows Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has a sizable lead over his Democratic challenger in Kentucky's U.S. Senate race.The Morning Consult poll, which surveyed 793 likely voters, showed McConnell leads retired Marine Lt. Colonel Amy McGrath by 17 points, 53% to 36%.The poll found that if the 2020 election were held today, 84% of Republicans would vote for McConnell, and 79% of Democrats say they would vote for McGrath. A 12-year old Brooklyn girl is uplifting audiences and making history as one of the youngest composers for the New York Philharmonic.Grace Moore is a seventh-grade student at Poly Prep in Dyker Heights. She’s also soaring to new heights with her passion for classical music.Moore describes herself as quiet and shy, but when it comes to her music, she is powerful. In October, Moore had a world premiere of a piece she created for the NY Philharmonic. It was the music she composed.Moore is a participant of the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers program— a program that teaches people as young as eight to create music, they have the some of best musicians in the world perform it.Moore’s talent is extraordinary.Her love of music started at the age of two when her mom bought her a piano. (KGTV) — Starting next year, military veterans will not have to pay adoption fees at California animal shelters, according to a new law.Senate Bill 245, introduced by Senator Ling Ling Chang, was signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, Chang's office said Friday. The bill calls on the state's animal shelters to waive adoption fees for military veterans. “This is a big win for veterans and shelter animals,” said Chang. “Our brave heroes deserve the same happiness, and I’m glad we can reduce the barriers for bringing together veterans seeking companion animals and pets in need of a home.”Under the law, shelters will confirm a veteran's eligibility using California's current "veteran" driver's license designation.SB 245 goes into effect Jan. 1, 2020.Chang's office touts the measure will greatly impact the state's two million veterans, some of who struggle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and would benefit from having an animal companion.“As the saying goes, a dog is a ‘man’s best friend.’ When I’m home my four-legged companions are a part of my family.
