SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Employees at a Little Caesars franchise location in Logan Heights say their paychecks are bouncing and management is not responding to their concerns. The workers say the problems started in March, and they told 10News they've received paychecks, only to have them bounce a few days later and racking up banking fees every time. The employees 10News spoke to, from the National Avenue location, did not want to be identified. When they spoke out to supervisors, the employees claimed they were told to not to bother upper management. Other times, they said, they were left in the dark with no response. Employees identified the owner as Tony Bith, saying he owns at least a dozen Little Caesars locations throughout San Diego County. The one in Barrio Logan on Main Street is also closed; the National City Location on Plaza Boulevard is still open. 10News tried to reach Bith by phone but did not hear back as of the publication of this story. 10News also attempted to make contact with him at his home address, but could not access him because he lives in a gated community. 10News reached out to Little Caesars corporate to find out if they were aware of what was going on and they sent the following statement: 1243

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Dining out Tuesday can make a big difference to hungry San Diegans, thanks to Restaurants Unite Against Hunger. The initiative was launched by celebrity chefs to benefit Feeding San Diego’s Month of a Million Meals. Restaurants across the county will donate a portion of their proceeds Tuesday, Dec. 11. "It's the holiday season and giving back is most important to me," said Angelo Sosa, chef and partner of Death x Tequila in Encinitas and Bravo's Top Chef All Star. "The last thing I want is San Diegans worrying about getting food onto their table. With Restaurants Unite Against Hunger, chefs and restaurants owners are joining together to help fight hunger, help our neighbors, and show the way for other local businesses to help out." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Despite having the most coronavirus cases of any local university, large off-campus parties continue to be an issue for San Diego State University and nearby residents.Students living off-campus have been attending large parties, according to neighbors. As of Saturday, SDSU had 1,184 COVID-19 cases, 767 of those cases being reported in off-campus students.Locals living in the College Area says many students continue to ignore public health orders and hold large, loud parties with no physical distancing or mask wearing."It's really frustrating and at this point, I feel like there's not a lot that we can do because you know those people, they're just going to keep doing what they're doing," one neighbor said.In a statement to ABC 10News' reporting partner KPBS, San Diego State says more than a hundred notices of violations have been delivered to residences in the college area. The university also contracts elite security to keep an eye on the neighborhood surrounding the school for any violations. If a security guard notices a party, they call police to respond. As of Friday, Cal State San Marcos had reported 18 total COVID-19 cases, three of which were off-campus. At UC San Diego, there have been 106 coronavirus cases since March 1, with three being reported since Oct. 1. Since Aug. 16, the University of San Diego has reported 130 confirmed and 17 probable cases, with 127 COVID-19 cases being non-residential students. 1465

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- From elementary school students to parents, many in the Scripps Ranch community are coming together to help during the coronavirus crisis.Like many throughout the county, Ryan Williams is now working from home. His wife does not have that luxury. “My wife has been a nurse for about 12 years now,” Williams said. RELATED: Carlsbad teacher's 'thank you' campaign goes viralHis new side project hits close to home. He is helping to make face masks to send to health care workers. “It is personal,” Williams said. “I would want to make sure my wife is protected when she was trying to help save others’ lives. I believe most people in the world would feel the same way as our health care workers.Williams, who works for Craft Bot, makes the headbands for the masks. Others help put it together. The project is coordinated through the Scripps Ranch Civic Association. RELATED: Ways you can help as states scramble for ventilators, other supplies“I've got seven printers, so I can print a lot. Others have one because they're a consumer that owns a 3D printer and they can print three or four a day. There's several people out there chipping in little by little,” Williams said.Ten-year-old Asher Botts is one of those people helping. He is also using his 3D printer to make headbands. He’s made five so far, with each one taking several hours to print. When asked why he is getting involved, he said he was “helping our country.”RELATED: California recruiting retired doctors, med students for expected COVID-19 surgeThis past weekend, organizers of the project delivered 200 of these masks, mostly to local hospitals. More are on the way.“The idea is before me, bigger than me. Everybody in our community is branching together to do this,” Williams said.
