EL CAJON (KGTV) – An El Cajon property owner said a police pursuit in March that ended at her property has led to questions over repairs.Jenny Wu has owned the property in the Villa Madera condominium complex on Mollison Avenue for more than a decade. On March 19, a vehicle crashed into her home, causing extensive damage.According to Wu, she had two elderly renters living there at the time of the crash, with one ending up in the hospital. She said she gave the information about what happened to her homeowner’s association immediately following the incident.More than five months after the crash, her property is still boarded up.Through her translator, she said the HOA wanted to investigate. Wu and her son said communication from the HOA and the property management company on the process to fix the condo has been spotty.Dan Zimberoff is an attorney who specializes in HOA matters.He is not involved in the case, but said the association typically insures common area.“When you have a singular affected homeowner like you do here, many times I see the association allows that homeowner have direct access with the adjuster. It just streamlines the processes and allows that direct communication,” Zimberoff said.Wu was one of the many temporarily laid off from her job at a local casino because of the pandemic. She still pays HOA fees at her condo, which adds up to roughly 0 per month.The president of Property Management Consultants said Team 10 has “been told many inconstancies [sic].” President Hugh Maynard said the insurance company would be contacting Team 10 with information, but the company never reached out. Maynard said the owner did not carry their own insurance and the HOA is paying the deductible.He added that they have kept the “family up on every turn of events” and showed Team 10 emails as proof. Wu’s son, who has been helping his mother with communication, admitted there have been emails exchanged with the property management company, but it has not been consistent.Maynard said the insurance company was controlling the rebuild, adding that the City of El Cajon condemned the unit.A spokesperson for the City of El Cajon confirmed the unit was tagged as structurally unsafe and permits will be required to repair it. EL CAJON (KGTV) -- Investigators are gathering clues to determine what caused a deadly single-car crash along a major roadway in El Cajon early Friday morning.The crash was reported at around 2:20 a.m. Friday by witnesses traveling to nearby pharmacy on Fletcher Parkway near Navajo Road. The witnesses, a woman and her young daughter, called 9-1-1 after discovering a wrecked white SUV fully engulfed in flames. According to El Cajon Police, the driver was heading westbound on Fletcher Parkway when they stuck a tree. The SUV immediately caught fire.The woman and other good Samaritans tried to pull the driver out of the burning vehicle.Crews arrived and also tried to rescue the trapped motorist but the victim died in the blaze.No information about the victim has been released at this time.Both directions of Fletcher Parkway near Navajo Road were closed as of 6 a.m. while officials continue their investigation. 928

(KGTV) – Two people died after being struck by an oncoming vehicle along I-8 Sunday morning.According to the California Highway Patrol, a single vehicle was involved in a crash on I-8 near El Cajon Boulevard just before 1:30 a.m.Following the crash two good Samaritans stopped to help the man out of his vehicle.While the crash victim and one of the good Samaritans were talking on the side of the road, another vehicle failed to see them, striking and killing both victims, according to CHP. Last Friday, Shannon Torres returned to her home along Murray Drive around noon with her 3-year-old son. "Her heart dropped. She was terrified," said husband Omar Torres.Torres says she found the front unlocked and the French doors leading into the family room open."They had kicked it open and splintered it up near the top," he said.Inside the house, the bedroom drawers were open and Shannon's jewelry boxes were gone and along with them, dozens of pieces of jewelry.Among the missing items: a pearl necklace from her aunt that Shannon wore at her wedding, diamond earrings from her husband for their anniversary, and a silver-and-gold bird necklace. The latter was a Mother's Day present. The couple have three sons, ages eight, six and three."It's very sad. Heartbreaking," said Torres.That feeling was made more intense when they realized what else was in the jewelry boxes: a yellow-and-white flash drive on a key ring and a black SanDisk memory stick. On them were the birth videos of their sons, along with videos and stills of each of their first year of life."It was a tremendous time we want to be able to relive and now we can't on those videos. DULZURA, Calif. (CNS) -- Firefighters were working Tuesday to extinguish a brush fire that has charred at least 100 acres of vegetation near the U.S.-Mexico border.The so-called Border 11 Fire was reported around 8:30 p.m. Monday in a mountainous area west of Marron Valley and south of Dulzura, Cal Fire Capt. Issac Sanchez said, adding that no homes or structures were immediately threatened.The fire was located in an area that was difficult to access, but heavy cloud cover and high humidity Tuesday morning was helping to keep the flames at bay, Sanchez said.Crews requested an air attack to help crews on the ground, but aircraft were unable to fly Tuesday morning because of the heavy cloud cover, he said. A better estimate about the size of the fire will be available once air crews are able to survey the area.The cause of the fire was under investigation.As of 3:30 p.m., the fire was 60 percent contained. 926
