BEIJING, Sep. 2 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said Thursday it would urge industrial enterprises to produce high-quality products as part of the effort to enhance the image of "made in China."The Ministry would also draw up a blacklist displaying the names of those firms breaching quality-related regulations, said Li Yizhong, Minister of the MIIT.The MIIT would reward those companies that have good records for producing quality products with increased policy and funding support, and punish those with poor quality-control records, said Li at a forum held in Beijing which focused on how to improve the quality and reputation of Chinese industrial products.The MIIT would also move forward on a campaign to allow enterprises to make promises on producing quality products, and work together with quality supervision authorities to incorporate the quality-based credit system of enterprises into the whole social credit system, Li said.During the forum, 156 Chinese firms signed a written proposal "promising to make quality products for the world," and called upon their peers in China to raise the quality of industrial products.

BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- China and Myanmar agreed on Wednesday to took the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties to consolidate traditional friendship and enhance cooperation in key areas including energy and infrastructure building.Chinese President Hu Jintao and Myanmar's top leader Than Shwe reached the agreement in their one-hour-long talks in the Great Hall of the People.After a red-carpet welcome ceremony for Than Shwe, chairman of Myanmar's State Peace and Development Council, Hu told him China highly valued its relations with the country, and it was an unswerving policy of China to solidify and develop good-neighborly cooperation with Myanmar."The policy will remain unchanged regardless of changes of international situation," he added.Hu said that with the meticulous care of leaders of the elder generations of both sides, China-Myanmar relations had withstood the tests of the ever-changing world since the establishment of diplomatic ties 60 years ago."Our bilateral relations have seen consolidation and growth ever since, and has set an example for friendly relations between countries with different social systems," said the Chinese president.Hailing the profound friendship between the two countries, Than Shwe said the two countries supported and understood each other over the years, citing enhanced friendship and trust, frequent high-level visits and rapid growth of win-win cooperation in various areas.China has stuck to a peaceful development road, said the Myanmar top leader, adding China's stance on major issues such as climate change fully reflected the interests and concerns of vast developing countries.He also reiterated his government's adherence to the one-China policy.This year marks the 60th anniversary of China-Myanmar diplomatic ties. VIENNA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) needs to enhance its role in promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy, non-proliferation and fostering nuclear security, a senior Chinese official said here Monday.Global revitalization of nuclear energy has brought more opportunities for the IAEA to play an even larger role in promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy and technology, said Chen Qiufa, head of the Chinese delegation to the IAEA's 54th General Conference opened in Vienna.Chen, also director general of the China Atomic Energy Authority, told the conference that the IAEA should continue to strengthen technical cooperation for sustainable development of nuclear energy, and give heed to opinions of developing countries.On the issue of nuclear safety, Chen said the IAEA should continue to push forward the development of global nuclear safety and security legislation and standard system, to strengthen transfer of knowledge and exchange of experience, popularize and promote nuclear culture so as to increase public confidence in nuclear energy development.With increasing work load of nuclear verification activities, the agency should build its own technical capability while fully cooperating with member states and using their resources to achieve nuclear safeguards targets, he added.Chen pointed out that the IAEA should play an active role in addressing sensitive and hot-spot nuclear issues.He said China always holds that the nuclear conundrum on the Korean Peninsula and in Iran should be resolved through dialogues and negotiations.China also supported the IAEA and its director general to continue to play their due role to push forward the diplomatic settlement of these issues.

BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- China UnionPay and MasterCard Worldwide announced Tuesday that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for future business development.The agreement seeks to set up a cooperation mechanism for both sides and the two companies plan to form working groups to discuss and implement development plans for online payments and other business opportunities.China UnionPay is the bankcard association in China, operating unified interbank clearing and settlement systems throughout the country.
