BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Vice Premier Wang Yang on Saturday called for more efforts to brace against flooding as the rainy season approaches.

Liu noted the annual high-level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE), which was launched in 2009, has offered a broader platform for friendly exchanges between the two peoples.

"Co-building the Silk Road Economic Belt will present a major opportunity for developing China-Uzbekistan relations," Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said at the opening ceremony of China-Uzbekistan trade and economic forum prior to the meeting.

Liu took China's response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa as an example, saying that China has provided four rounds of humanitarian aid with a combined value of 750 million renminbi ( about 120 million U.S. dollars), sent more than 1,000 medical staff to the affected countries, treated more than 900 patients, and trained more than 13,000 medical workers for Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea and their neighboring countries since the outbreak of the deadly disease.

He said India always pays great importance to developing good neighborly relations and friendly with China and is willing to strengthen cooperation and increase exchanges with China in all fields.
