Four kids were removed from a Phoenix home after one child died, and the other children were found with "insects crawling out of their ears." Phoenix police report that on January 7, they responded to a home for an unresponsive child. Phoenix Fire Department paramedics pronounced the 1-month-old boy dead at the scene around 11 p.m. Police say there were a total of five children in the home at the time, two 1-month-olds, a 1-year-old, 4-year-old, and 6-year-old. While police were there, the other 1-month-old child began to have trouble breathing. The child was taken to the hospital where it was found to have "traumatic head injuries," and a brain bleed. The Department of Child Safety removed the other three children from the home. During their evaluation, the other children were found "to have a lice infestation, covered in dirt, extremely soiled diapers, and insects crawling out of their ears." The 1-year-old was also found to have multiple skull fractures. The 4-year-old child later reportedly told investigators that "Dada," 38-year-old Donald Roy Ferguson, threw the baby, who later died, to the ground. An autopsy report did not find any deadly traumatic injuries, but additional medical tests are being done. During their investigation, police say Ferguson was watching the children while their mother, 29-year-old Emmaline Amelia Ramirez, was out getting baby items. Ferguson called her to return home when the baby was choking. Ramirez allegedly returned home and gave the child CPR, and reported he was fine, according to Ferguson. She then ate and went to bed. Around 10:30 p.m., the child stopped breathing again, and Ramirez performed CPR and called 911. Ferguson later admitted to becoming angry and hitting Ramirez, according to court records. Ramirez also allegedly told police that when Ferguson hits her, the children cry and hide under the bed. According to court records, there have been several prior DCS reports of abuse in the home. The couple has been charged with seven counts of child abuse. This article was written by Joe Enea for 2091

??Here it is: The 2019 #RockefellerCenter Christmas Tree ?? The Norway spruce hails from the Village of Florida in Orange County, NY. ? ? Each year, Rockefeller Center receives submissions from families in hopes their tree will bring joy to the millions who visit Rockefeller Plaza during the holiday season. We usually select a Norway spruce that is later on in its life cycle, and plant a young one in its place. Once the holidays have passed, the tree is donated to Habitat for Humanity, where it is recycled and used as lumber in their building projects.? ? The tree will be raised on the plaza on Saturday 11/9—mark your calendars! 652

Ohio has been added to the Ohio Department of Health’s COVID-19 Travel Advisory map, meaning the state is recommending Ohioans avoid traveling to Ohio, and those entering Ohio after traveling from Ohio are advised to self-quarantine in Ohio for 14 days.Obviously, outside of The Matrix or a Christopher Nolan movie, this is physically impossible. To be clear, you are free to move about the state, but the ODH recommends staying home except for necessary trips. The ODH included this statement on this week's travel advisory: "This is the first week since April where Ohio’s positivity for COVID-19 has increased above 15%. The state has seen record levels of cases, deaths, and hospitalizations in the past week, and all Ohioans can help to limit the spread and impact of this virus. This includes recommendations to stay at home except for necessary trips for supplies, consistent mask-wearing when around others, and frequent hand washing. Together we can help stop the spread of COVID-19."Ohio was added to its own travel advisory map because, as ODH states, the 7-day rolling average positivity rate for COVID-19 tests in the state rose above 15% for the first time since April this week. Any state with a positivity rate above 15% is put on the map, and the ODH recommends against travel to those states with high positivity. The positivity rate is an indicator of how much COVID-19 there is in a community, ODH states, and comes from state-level aggregate data from The COVID Tracking Project. The travel advisory is updated each Wednesday, based on data from Tuesday. The 13 other states included in Wednesday’s travel advisory and their average positivity rates are:Idaho - 49.0%Iowa - 43.4%South Dakota - 41.1%Kansas - 40.0%Alabama - 33.0%Pennsylvania - 29.0%Arizona - 23.0%Mississippi - 22.0%Utah - 20.0%Missouri - 19.0%Nevada - 17.0%Montana - 15.0%Arkansas - 15.0%The advisory and self-quarantine recommendations are intended for both leisure and business travel and should be heeded by both Ohioans and out-of-state travelers, the ODH stated. It is also guidance and not a mandate. For more information on the state's travel advisory, and recommendations for self-quarantining in Ohio after traveling to Ohio from Ohio, click here. PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - Chris Nikic has officially set a new Guinness World Record. He’s the first athlete with Down syndrome to complete a full triathlon.Nikic finished Saturday’s 2.4-mile swim, 122-mile bike and 26.2-mile run in 16 hours, 46 minutes and nine seconds. He needed to complete the race in 17 hours to earn the title of Ironman.21-year-old Nikic, who lives in Maitland, Florida, says he didn’t let any obstacles come in his way despite being stung by fire ants and falling off his bicycle.“I decided to get back up and fight my way through,” he explained.Dan Grieb, Chris’ coach, was there by his side throughout the entire race. “He woke up as a boy with Down syndrome and went to bed an Ironman,” Dan explained Monday morning while packing up his bags to leave Panama City Beach.Grieb recalled a conversation he had with Nik Nikic, Chris’ dad, moments before the race. “I told his dad ‘Nik, you’ve done an amazing job with your boy for 21 years. Just give him to me for 17 hours and I promise I’ll return to you an Ironman. The greatest honor of my life was keeping that promise,” Grieb said with a smile.Nikic’s story has been an inspiration all across the world. Several parents of children with Down syndrome have reached out to the 21-year-old athlete through social media.“They say that I’m a hero,” Nikic said.“For everyone else like him around the world, it has been unbelievable,” Grieb added.Sherry Wheelock, the President of Special Olympics Florida says Nikic is proving that anything is possible. Nikic got a first taste of triathalons through his participation in Special Olympics.Wheelock says she expects interest in Special Olympics to explode following Nikic’s accomplishments. “I think others will be inspired to come out and be part of this unified movement,” she said.Nik Nikic came up with a goal for his son. That goal was to improve by 1% every day and it’s something Chris Nikic took to heart. His next goal is to participate in the Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando in 2022. The event will attract top Special Olympics athletes from all over the US, the Caribbean and Canada.Chris Nikic also hopes to one day buy his own home, his own car, live independently and get married “to a smoking hot blonde,” he said.“I want to inspire others so they can be like me so one day they can do it too,” Nikic added eagerly.
