San Diego (KGTV) -- A 41-year-old woman suffered serious injuries Monday night when she was hit by an SUV while crossing the street in Pacific Beach.Police say the collision happened shortly before 10:40 p.m. on Grand Avenue west of Mission Bay Drive.A 24-year-old woman was driving a 2018 Jeep Cherokee eastbound of Grand Avenue while the victim was crossing the street southbound, then stepped off the center median and was struck by the Jeep. Paramedics took the victim to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with major injuries. She is expected to survive.The driver remained at the scene. 591

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A developer is going back to the drawing board after a downtown agency blasted its affordable housing proposal Wednesday. Pinnacle planned to build a 58-unit low-income apartment complex at the corner of 11th and B. It would be attached to a 32-story market rate residential tower. While the buildings would be attached, they would have separate doors, no interior connections, and few shared amenities.Civic San Diego's board of directors rebuked the developer Wednesday. "You want to put us somewhere else," board member Robert Robinson said. "Are we not good enough to get on the top floor and look out at the ocean? That's what the message is here."David Dick, an attorney representing Pinnacle, said that was a misrepresentation of the intent. "It has to do with the realities of construction, cost financing, management and ownership," he said. Dick added that Pinnacle should be lauded for its willingness to fund much-needed affordable housing downtown, as opposed to paying an in-lieu fee that could take years to yield any units. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A customer at a downtown flooring warehouse found a man dead inside the business Wednesday afternoon, according to San Diego Police.First responders arrived and performed CPR but could not resuscitate the man.According to police, homicide detectives were called to the 1000 block of G Street around 4 p.m. to investigate the death.Ghedeer "Tony" Radda, 49, the owner of the business, suffered traumatic injuries to the torso, according to Lt. Matt Dobbs, but it was unclear if he'd been shot or stabbed.Police said surveillance cameras captured two suspects running from the area. They have yet to determine a motive.Police said one of the suspects is a man seen wearing a mask resembling an older woman with gray hair. He was also wearing a gray jacket and dark pants. The second suspect is a woman last seen with purple hair police say may be a wig. She was also wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans. Radda leaves behind a wife and two young children. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 13-year old girl, waiting for her mother to pick her up in Grant Hill, was attacked by a knife-wielding man Friday afternoon.San Diego Police are now using surveillance videos in their search for the suspect, who yanked a gold necklace from the teen's neck before making his getaway near the intersection of 26th and K Street.The girl wasn't hurt, but parents like Elizabeth Alvarado, whose twin 12-year-old daughters walk by that same spot each day, are hoping he doesn't strike again.Alvarado saw surveillance video after the principal of her daughters' school sent parents a link, suggesting they talk to their kids about staying safe.Andy Trakas of Albert Einstein Charter Middle School said the girl who was attacked wasn't one of his students, but there are several other schools in the neighborhood."We decided to be very, very proactive because the safety of our students," said Trakas, adding that all children in the community are a concern."These things can happen anywhere," Trakas said. "They can happen in La Jolla, they can happen in City Heights, they can happen in Del Sur or La Mesa, whatever, but, by being part of the community we can all work together to make sure that our eyes and ears are open so we can find out who this person is and make this place a better, safer community for our kids."Trakas suggested parents talk to their kids about being aware of their surroundings and the importance of staying in groups, not alone, after school. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 17-year-old boy accused of killing a Carlsbad woman on a popular hiking trail denied the allegations against him during a virtual arraignment Thursday morning.Through his attorney, the teen denied all allegations. He faces charges in connection with the Nov. 23 death of 68-year-old Lisa Thorborg.Thorborg was on a morning walk at Hosp Grove Trail when Carlsbad police investigators said she was attacked and stabbed to death.On Dec. 14, Carlsbad police announced the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in the case. Little information on the teen was released, but police noted the suspect is a Carlsbad resident.Thorborg's death struck a chord with many in the community. In the days following her death, a large group came to honor her by finishing the walk she started.The woman’s death also left many neighbors upset and concerned about their safety while on that trail.During Thursday’s arraignment, the judge also granted the teen's request to two phone calls -- one to his Mom, the other to his grandmother.ABC 10News learned Thorborg’s family was also listening to the hearing through the phone.Another hearing in the case is set for Dec. 22. 1173
