And it's even more evident when looking at a new ranking from the Brewers Association.The non-profit trade group that represents small and craft breweries recently released its annual list of top brewers in the U.S., based on beer sales. In January, seven breweries were ranked on RateBeer's top 100 brewers in the world list: AleSmith, Port Brewing, Stone, Modern Times, Alpine Beer, Ballast Point, and Mikkeller.The San Diego region is home to more than 130 brewhouses spanning large and small brewers, according to the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego students have a new way to report claims of physical or sexual abuse in school.Thursday, District Attorney Summer Stephan announced the creation of a new, online reporting system for suspected abuse. She also announced the creation of the Student Safety in School Systems Task Force."It's critically important that these reports don't fall through the cracks," Stephan says. They fear the claims won't be taken seriously, or the allegations could be covered up. The new online system gives the students a more secure feeling that their claims will be investigated.The task force will vet and review every submission and follow up with the appropriate law enforcement agency. They will also guide the person facing the suspected abuse to find resources and other available services for help.This will not replace the responsibility of mandated reporters within schools, Stephan says. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Smugglers from Mexico have reportedly been able to breach recently constructed sections of the border wall, according to a report from The Washington Post. Smugglers breached the wall's bollard steel and concrete sections using reciprocating saws, allowing drugs and people to pass through from Mexico, the Post reported, citing U.S. agents and officials. The exact locations of the damaged wall were not indicated.10News reached out to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Saturday. While no one was available to speak, the CBP said in an email, "the bollard walls were not designed to be impenetrable or indestructible."RELATED: Border officials say the wall is working, drug smuggling shifting to the seaThis contrasts President Donald Trump's claims during a visit to San Diego in September, in which he claimed the bollard walls were "virtually impenetrable." The President went on to say at the time, "if you think you're going to cut it with a blow torch, that doesn't work because you hit concrete. And then if you think you're going to go through the concrete that doesn't work because we have very powerful rebar inside."The new 14-mile stretch of bollard fencing was completed in August, running from Otay Mountain to San Diego's coastline. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - South Bay Pentecostal Church has been involved in a legal battle since May regarding worshiping indoors, and officials think Friday could be the light at the end of the tunnel.Senior Pastor Arthur Hodges believes during a motions hearing Friday morning the church will be granted permission to reopen indoors.His hope comes from the latest rulings by several judges.On Dec. 3, the Supreme Court ruled places of worship in New York could reopen, saying restrictions meant to curb the pandemic violated the First Amendment of the Constitution.After that ruling, the high court issued an unsigned order to California judges to reconsider Gov. Gavin Newsom's restrictions.On Wednesday, a judge ruled restaurants could reopen indoors in San Diego."That absolutely makes us hopeful, and I've told restaurateurs, business owners, whatever, we're fighting for you, too. Now we have a bigger gun than they do. We've got the Constitution, OK; they don't have that. but they're finding ways to get around it with the right to assemble," Hodges said.Hodges said back in May their initial lawsuit was voted down 5-4 by the Supreme Court.Hodges believes under a high court that shifted majority when Judge Amy Coney Barrett replaced the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, they will prevail."If religious liberties are lost, you can mark it down your personal liberties are going to be lost," Hodges said, arguing this lawsuit is to protect more than places of worship.Hodges said if they win this legal battle it will pave the way for the rest of the country. 1563

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Smash-and-grab thieves targeted a sushi restaurant in North Park and neighbors worry it may be part of a growing trend.Along 30th street, the mess was discovered Thursday morning in front of Aburi Sushi."It sucked, really sad," said General Manager Alex MikhaA neighbor called him and reported a window broken. Mikha rushed over and found the front door shattered. A look at surveillance video from nearby businesses reveals the culprits. Around 5:15 a.m., a black sedan pulls up and parks in front of the restaurant. Two people emerge. The lookout appears to be a woman, who covers her face. Minutes later, the other person makes a move.
