Two conservative activists have been charged with multiple felonies in Michigan for a series of false robocalls that aimed to dissuade urban residents in Detroit and other cities from voting by mail. Jacob Wohl, 22, and Jack Burkman, 54, each were charged Thursday with four felony counts in Detroit, including intimidating voters in violation of election law, conspiracy and using a computer to commit crimes. The calls falsely warned residents in majority-Black Detroit and urban areas in at least four other states that voting by mail in the Nov. 3 election could subject people to arrest, debt collection and forced vaccination. Two people were fatally shot during a video game tournament at a shopping and dining complex Sunday in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, Sheriff Mike Williams said.Nine other people suffered gunshot wounds and two people were injured fleeing the area, Williams said.The gunman, identified as 24-year old David Katz, of Baltimore, Maryland, took his own life inside Chicago Pizza after the shooting, the sheriff said. United Airlines has established a new policy for transporting pets in cargo holds that includes banning dozens of dog breeds and several types of cats.The new policy takes effect June 18, when the carrier will resume reservations for its PetSafe program. The airline temporarily stopped the program in March after a series of high-profile incidents involving pets that were lost and others that died on United flights.United said it will be working with American Humane, an animal-welfare group, to improve the well-being of pets that travel on United, both in the cargo hold and in the cabin.
