SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) -- A fishing shop in Kearny Mesa was burglarized early Sunday morning. The break-in was caught on the San Diego Tackle Traders' surveillance cameras just before 4:30 a.m. The video shows two suspects, wearing masks and gloves, getting into the shop using a crowbar. The two people can be seen walking into the business, on Convoy Court, with a cooler and some type of container, heading towards the back of the shop. The owners of San Diego Tackle Traders say the suspects got away with several fishing reels and rods, a total value of ,000 to 0,00. The owners tell 10News this is a big blow to their small business. They say they work by appointment only and don't advertise their address online because of the value of the items they sell. The owners are now hoping people will keep an eye out for anyone trying to sell brand new fishing equipment. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department. 964

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) -- San Diegans have a new opportunity to go back to school without fear of being saddled with student loan debt. The San Diego Workforce Partnership and U.C. San Diego Extension are teaming up to create what's called an income share agreement. Here's how it works:People complete a roughly yearlong certificate program in digital marketing, business intelligence, front-end web design or java programming at UCSD Extension. The fund will front the student's entire tuition, plus support services to total about ,500. Grads only make payments on it if they have a job that pays at least ,000 a year. "Once you get a foothold in some of these jobs, your salary potential grows even faster," said Andy Hall, chief operating officer of the San Diego Workforce Partnership. Grads would be billed 6 to 8 percent of their pre-tax salary per month, but they'd never pay more than ,500. Plus, all payments top after three to five years. The idea is that the most successful grads can fund the next generation of those looking to retrain.Google.org, Strada Education Network and the James Irvine Foundation are backing the program, along with an anonymous donor. SAN DIEGO — A lawsuit was announced Monday over the death of Roxsana Hernandez, a transgender woman who died in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody earlier this year as she sought asylum at the border.Hernandez arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border in San Ysidro in May from her native Honduras, but Transgender Law Center Director Lynly Egyes said Hernandez “came to the U.S. seeking protection and instead was met with torture.”"An independent autopsy report reveals that Roxsana was shackled for a long time and very tightly, enough to cause deep bruising on her wrists. She also had deep bruising Injuries consistent with physical abuse with a baton or asp while she was handcuffed, according to an examination of the tissue by an independent expert board-certified forensic pathologist," Egyes said.According to attorneys, Hernandez died from dehydration after being denied water and medical care.Hernandez, who was HIV positive, became very ill as she was transferred from California to Texas, back to California, and then to New Mexico, where she died.Hernandez’s family is hoping the wrongful death lawsuit will provide answers as to what happened. The suit was filed against the state of New Mexico. With many LGBTQ migrants arriving in Tijuana to seek asylum, many advocates hope the lawsuit announcement serves as a reminder that they will be watching as LGBTQ migrants present themselves at various ports of entry along the U.S.-Mexico border."Her death was entirely preventable," Egyes said. 1525

SAN DIEGO COUNTY (KGTV)-- Scattered showers sprinkled all across San Diego County Saturday, bringing with it up to a quarter inch of rain. While rain totals were not significant, it was the reason for hundreds of car accidents. At 11:40 AM, 10News found a passenger van flipped onto its side. The driver said he was turning onto the Home on-ramp on WB 94 when he hydroplaned and flipped over. With some help from good Samaritans, he was able to climb up out of the passenger side door. He was not hurt. There were no passengers. One of many solo spin-outs happened on the 163 S to the 8 E on-ramp. The driver said at around 12:30 PM, he lost control of his truck at the top of the loop, then smashed into the concrete barrier. He said he felt lucky he did not roll down into a 50-foot embankment like another car did just a few hours prior in the same spot.RELATED: Check today's San Diego forecast10News crews also saw countless fender benders and flatbed tow trucks roaming the highways. Mother nature also wreaked havoc onto herself. At around 2:30 PM, a tree toppled onto Northbound 805 near Plaza South.Branches partially blocked the slow lane until clean up crews arrived.By afternoon, the rain clouds started to concentrate over North County. A three-car crash happened along Westbound 78 near the Nordahl Rd on-ramp in San Marcos. The small red vehicle ended up mangled, and the Prius somehow climbed up an embankment. Firefighters said all airbags on the Prius were deployed, and thankfully no-one was injured. 1526

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A woman who drove off a Northern California cliff last month in an SUV carrying her wife and children was drunk, authorities said Friday.Toxicology tests found Jennifer Hart had an alcohol level of 0.102, said California Patrol Capt. Bruce Carpenter. California drivers are considered drunk with a level of 0.08 or higher.Toxicology tests also found that her wife Sarah Hart and two of their children had "a significant amount" of an ingredient commonly found in the allergy drug Benadryl, which can make people sleepy. Toxicology results for a third child killed are still pending, Carpenter said.Carpenter said none of the car's occupants were wearing seatbelts.Sarah and Jennifer Hart and their six adopted children were believed to be in the family's SUV when it plunged off a cliff in Mendocino County, more than 160 miles (250 kilometers) north of San Francisco.Authorities have said that data from the vehicle's software suggested the crash was deliberate, though the California Highway Patrol has not concluded why the vehicle went off an ocean overlook on a rugged part of coastline. A specialized team of accident investigators is trying to figure that out with help from the FBI, Carpenter said.Five bodies were found March 26 near the small city of Mendocino, a few days after Washington state authorities began investigating the Harts for possible child neglect, but three of their children were not immediately recovered from the scene. Two more are missing and another body has been found but not identified. The 100-foot (31-meter) drop killed the women, both 39, and their children Markis Hart, 19; Jeremiah Hart, 14; and Abigail Hart, 14. Hannah Hart, 16; Devonte Hart, 15; and Sierra Hart, 12, have not been found. 1760
