"Even though a lot of people may perceive him to be cute or funny, for us it's alarming to see an animal this size," said Dr. Danielle Clem, Hospital Director for the San Diego Campus.Overweight pets like Angelo are at risk for health complications like diabetes and severe arthritis."I really am a firm believer that good pet care starts with what you put in their food dish - and it's as simple as that," said Dr. Clem.Hospital staff put Angelo on a strict diet and began to encourage exercise. But Dr. Clem warns that if your pet needs to lose weight, it should be done under veterinarian supervision. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - When school started last week at Dailard Elementary in San Carlos, the father of a second grade student noticed several large spiders and egg sacks in the area where kids hang their backpacks. He took several photos documenting the issue. When he reached out to 10News about a week later, he said he had already spoken to a teacher, custodian, and the principal about the issue but was told a work order would need to be put in to get pest control to the school. The same parent said the spiders appeared to be brown widows, which are venomous and a bite from one requires medical attention. A San Diego Unified School District spokesperson confirmed that a pest control team was sent to the school Thursday to get rid of the spiders and eggs. They also confirmed that the spiders were indeed brown widows, very common in the San Diego area. Despite the concerns, there were no reports of any children ever being bitten. 952

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Video taken in Mexico shows dozens of migrants climbing over the border fence in Border Field State Park. The video, provided to 10News by Joebeth Terriquez Espinoza with AFN, a news agency in Mexico, shows people successfully climbing over the fence and onto the beach on the U.S. side of the border just after 4 p.m. A spokesperson for Border Patrol says agents arrested people as soon as they crossed, preventing anyone from getting away. A total of 24 people, 18 men and six women, were taken into custody. According to Border Patrol, 23 of the people who crossed the border illegally were from Honduras while the 24th person was from Guatemala. RELATED: Asylum seekers waiting in Mexico arrive for hearings in US"The Tijuana Police Department responded to the scene, successfully dispersing a large crowd still south of the barrier, deescalating the situation," the spokesperson told 10News. All 24 people arrested were taken to a nearby Border Patrol station for processing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people spotted by police smashing a window at a Pacific Beach Wendy’s restaurant were arrested after leading officers on a chase.The incident unfolded at around 1:15 a.m. at the fast food restaurant on 1621 Grand Ave., according to San Diego police.Officers were in the area when they saw two people smash a window at the eatery. When police tried to make contact with them, they got into a pickup truck and drove away.The truck reached speeds of up to 100 MPH as it led police on a pursuit towards Interstate 8.Police’s ABLE helicopter helped ground units track the truck into the Midway District, and as the vehicle tried to make a left turn on Rosecrans Street, it crashed into the center divider.The truck then entered a nearby strip mall and came to a stop. The two occupants got out, but officers arrived and took them into custody.Police are trying to determine if the window smash was part of a burglary attempt or an act of vandalism. 975
