Their goal is to create positivity.“We’re all in this together, and our goal with the Courage Thru COVID wristband is to give people an opportunity to show their unity and show their support for each other,” said Wiatrowski.The wristbands are a bright, neon green with the words “Courage Thru COVID” printed on them. Right now, only hospitals in Minnesota are getting them, but Wiatrowski hopes to expand the effort across the country.There are questions over whether this would really encourage people to get vaccinated. Psychology experts say think so, because there’s power in numbers. If we see a lot of people sporting these stickers, we're likely to be motivated enough to get the vaccine.The stickers can also create a sense of belonging.“That sense of belonging does cause us to feel, again, more motivated to belong to that group, to do what those other people around us are doing. But also, to stay true to the norms of that group by trying to convince others that those are the correct actions to take and norms to adopt,” said Robert Cialdini, psychology and marketing professor at Arizona State University.Cialdini is confident the stickers will encourage people to get vaccinated, but he is unsure at this point of how big of a difference they'll make.He adds another thing that could motivate people is seeing celebrities endorse the vaccine. A visionary who failed to yield to the influence of others as he remained devoted to his creative vision, he often drove away those who he relied on. He also exploited his fame to indulge in romance and power fantasies with young fans.Kricfalusi opens up in a shockingly candid manner, apologizing for some of his decisions while doubling down on others. What emerges is a complete, complex portrait of a troubled man who started from nothing, had it all and then lost just about everything. The series aired from 1991 to 1995 on Nickelodeon, then came back in a brief, adult-themed incarnation in 2003. Kricfalusi has now lost most of his creative relevance, and apparently, also his drive.While "Ren & Stimpy" superfans will get the most out of the documentary, it also makes for a fascinating ride for anyone with a passing interest in the evolving form of animation. This week, experts are sending warnings to those considering seeing people outside their household without quarantining first. One aerosol expert weighs in on just how dangerous the holiday could be."My simplest advice is it is not a good idea to meet with people outside of your household for a holiday meal. That’s the most important message that can be underscored, and the reason for that is there are multiple ways this virus can be transferred,” said Alex Huffman, an aerosol expert and associate professor at the University of Denver. “The closer you are increases the chances of that, but aerosols can come out of your mouth and mix into the room. The longer you're in that room, the more chance you have of getting sick.”Huffman says time, ventilation and proximity have a big impact on whether coronavirus droplets can spread and infect others."When you breathe and talk, the louder you talk, droplets and aerosols come out of your mouth. So, traditionally, droplets are on the bigger side, aerosols are on the smaller side," said Huffman.With no mask on, these droplets can land on the faces of people around you or on their plates."And so, the biggest danger with the Thanksgiving meal or holiday meal or any meal specifically, restaurants included, are that you have to take off your mask to eat and that is why eating together indoors is so dangerous," said Huffman.Huffman demonstrated how fast droplets can spread in the air by showing how quickly food coloring can spread in water. He also analyzed the risks of eating a Thanksgiving meal in person, taking commonly-used models and applying varying factors that come into play when eating with people outside of your household."And then, I used the same model to say, ‘What happens if we meet for holiday meals?’ Let's say we have 10 people. We all eat for two hours. We all don't have masks on, and then, we ran different scenarios. If it was a small room, a large room, a medium-sized room and then estimate the amount of risk that would be from aerosol," said Huffman.Matching with community transmission rates, Huffman estimated that the probability of each person at the table having COVID-19 was about 5 percent."If it's a small room, everybody has something like a 15 percent chance of getting infected, even if we had no idea if anybody was infected or not. If it's a big room, it's a little bit less than that," explained Huffman.Ventilation also comes into play, which is why experts are advising that if you really are planning to meet with family this holiday, do it outside. Opening windows and doors also helps. Huffman also has some tools people can use, such as a carbon dioxide monitor or you can create your own box fan air filter."On the back, this is a furnace filter that’s also 20 inches and so you tape them together so they're well-sealed. You turn it on high and you blow the air through this filter and that removes the particles in the room that could potentially contain virus in it," said Huffman.Still, Huffman and other medical experts agree this won't completely eliminate the risk of spreading COVID-19. The safest thing to do is stay home and avoid celebrating Thanksgiving with people who are not part of your household. 3230

THORNTON, Colo. -- Police in Colorado say two people died and a third was transported to the hospital after a shooting at a Walmart Wednesday night. The third victim died of her injuries at the hospital. The two suspects believed to be involved in the shooting are still at large, according to law enforcement. Police were called to the store around 6 p.m., according to KGTV sister station KMGH. Those wanting to become U.S. citizens are now taking a new test, one that has twice as many questions as the previous one, and potentially controversial answer choices according to media reports.Test-takers are now asked to answer 20 questions, from the previous 10; getting 12 correct is needed to pass, the same percentage that was needed on the previous test. However, the new test requires test-takers to give some answer for all 20 questions, the previous rules only required that a test-taker get 6 correct and the officer could stop asking questions once a person got 6.Some immigration and naturalization experts worry the length change could reduce the efficiency of the citizenship application process, which has been struggling to keep up with a backlog according to FOX News.“The administration is adding hundreds of thousands of more minutes to these naturalization exams,” Sarah Pierce, a policy analyst at the nonpartisan Migration Policy Institute told FOX News.The new test, which started being given on December 1, 2020, does away with geographical questions, in addition to other changes, like having to name all three branches of government instead of just one, or knowing biographical details about Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and Dwight Eisenhower. The questions come from 128 potential civics-related topics, according to Politico.One change getting some attention is the verbiage of two answers. The previous answer to the question about whom U.S. Senators represent was “all people of the state.” Now, the official study guide says the only approved answer is “citizens of their state.” Similarly, the answer to a question about who a Representative represents was changed to be “citizens in their district.”The exams are given orally, so it is not clear if every U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service officer giving the test will require the word “citizen” instead of “all people.”Of the possible questions, several include the Federalist Papers as a possible answer, while three are about women’s suffrage and two are about the civil rights movement.Taking the citizenship test happens at the end of a months-or-years-long application process, after a person has lived legally in the country for more than five years. 2261
