A convicted felon was arrested Friday morning after he broke into a random apartment and was discovered sleeping on a Rittman couple's couch, police said.Eric Branhan, 36, is charged with aggravated burglary.Police said Branham crawled through a window, busted some blinds and entered the apartment. He ate several pieces of candy from an Easter basket and then fell asleep on a living room couch.The couple who lives there, Jaclyn Fortner and Derek Jenkin, made the creepy discovery just after 6 a.m. local time."We kept saying like, 'Who are you? What are you doing?' And, no response, Fortner said.Jenkin continued to scream at the man while on the phone with a 911 operator."Get out of here! Let's go! Come on!"Police said Branham left the apartment but lingered around the complex and was arrested.Officers found two knives and prescription medication on the suspect."It's kind of scary, especially thinking what's out there, so he could have woke up angry and like escalated the situation," Fortney said.According to state records, Branham has spent time in prison for forgery, possession of drugs, illegal possession of drugs and burglary.Branham was on post release control following his release from prison in 2017.Rittman is located in northeast Ohio, about an hour south of Cleveland.   1335

A Georgia woman spent three months in jail after two deputies said a field test of a blue substance found in a car she was in turned up positive for methamphetamine.But it wasn't meth. It was cotton candy.Dasha Fincher claims that while she was in jail she missed several major life events, including the birth of twin grandchildren, and was refused medical care for a broken hand and ovarian cyst.Now she's filed a lawsuit against Monroe County and the three officers involved for wrongful imprisonment and violating her civil rights. A Black man has filed a lawsuit against a gas station in Portland, Oregon claiming he was prohibited from buying gas because of the color of his skin, according to multiple media reports.Dominique DeWeese says he asked the attendant for a gallon of gas in a container back in July. According to the lawsuit, DeWeese says the attendant declined and allegedly implied he did not want to give DeWeese an opportunity to set fires.In Oregon, an attendant is required by law to pump gas, it is not self-service. “He asked if I was a Black Lives protester, rioter, kinda smirked and said ‘I’m not giving you any gas,’” DeWeese told KGW8 about the July incident.Portland has seen countless nights of demonstrations this year. They started in May, following the death of George Floyd at the hands of officers in Minneapolis.After the attendant declined to give DeWeese gas, he got out his cellphone and started recording. During the recording, the attendant tells DeWeese there are fires happening around Portland, “they get a can of gasoline and they start the fire,” the attendant says.“So, are you picking and choosing who to sell gasoline to?” DeWeese is heard asking on the video. The attendant said he was.DeWeese explains why he needs the gasoline, saying it's to put in the mole holes on his property that is just up the block from the gas station.The attendant says he will only give DeWeese gas if he can put it directly into a car or lawnmower, not a gas can.“I'm just doing my part to keep down the fires in town,” said the attendant.The attendant was reportedly let go after DeWeese’s video was shared widely on social media.DeWeese’s racial discrimination lawsuit was filed last week and is seeking 0,000. 1721

A convent in Livonia, Michigan, is mourning the loss of 13 nuns to the coronavirus. The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Felix of Cantalice, or Felician Sisters, lost 12 nuns to the virus between April 10 (Good Friday) and May 12, according to the Global Sisters Report publication.A 13th nun succumbed to the illness in June. Additionally, 18 sisters at the convent contracted the deadly novel coronavirus."We couldn't contain the grief and the sorrow and the emotional impact," Sr. Noel Marie Gabriel, director of clinical health services for the Felician Sisters of North America, told a reporter with Global Sisters Report. "We went through the motions of doing what we had to do, but that month was like a whole different way of life. That was our most tragic time. A Land O' Lakes, Florida man who was just released from prison was arrested for attempted vehicle theft again before he even left the jail parking lot.Klaid Karpuzi, 41, was arrested when deputies say he tried to steal a truck with a teen in the backseat just three days earlier.As Karpuzi was walking through the jail parking lot following his release, he reportedly tried to get into a vehicle by walking around it, then pulling on the passenger door handle.Inside the vehicle was an off-duty deputy who happened to be at the jail to take a class.When Karpuzi pulled on the handle, Deputy Brunner stepped out of the vehicle, where she and another deputy detained him.Karpuzi told the deputies he saw a vehicle with the engine running and did not realize anyone was in it.He was arrested for attempted auto theft and returned to the jail.
