San Diego, Calif. (KGTV) - Season 16 of the Bachelorette was unlike any other. The original Bachelorette, Clare, fell quickly in love with one of the men on the show and left engaged to him. Then a new Bachelorette, Tayshia was brought in. San Diego local Chasen Nick was there through all of the drama, trying to vie for each woman’s heart.Chasen, who has lived in San Diego for close to ten years, said his friends submitted him for the show. He said he was brought in during the pandemic, so he knew Clare was the Bachelorette and he knew the season would be shot in a quarantined setting at a Palm Springs resort.Tayshia sent him home on the episode that aired Nov. 24 and he said looking back, he felt more of a connection with Clare.“I have to be completely honest, I’d say Clare. I didn’t really get the opportunity to progress with Tayshia and it was just a surface level connection getting to know each other,” he said.Chasen had a few heated moments during his time on the show, including calling Tayshia a “smoke show” in front of the other guys in the house. Looking back, he says he would’ve picked a different word. He said one part of the journey he would not change, though, was his interactions with Ed, another guy in the house. Chasen and Ed had a few tense moments, but Chasen said he doesn’t regret how he reacted.“I wish Ed would have stopped and surrendered when I apologized but some people hold onto things. I think if that was different than things could’ve been different with my progression with Tayshia and our relationship,” said Chasen, saying he and Ed have reconciled since the show aired.Chasen said he’s happy to be back home in San Diego. He’s ready to focus on his career working as an account executive for Apex Systems, then get back into the dating world.“I’m onto bigger and better things right now, focus on myself, and I’ll be able to put myself out there eventually,” he said.He said since the show started airing, he’s received support from his community and strangers in the San Diego area.“So much support and love from everyone. I’ve been recognized in public and don’t be afraid to come up to me and say hi. I’d love to talk to anyone. It’s kinda cool, it’s a different feeling,” he said, referring to his newfound fame.Many Bachelor franchise alum end up on the spinoff Paradise show, where they try a second chance at love, and he said he would be open to that if the network asked him to join.“If they asked me, I’m pretty sure I’d go,” he said. 2505

(KGTV): City leaders in San Diego want to bring another major military attraction to America's Finest City.On Tuesday, the City Council will vote on a resolution showing their support for bringing the National Medal of Honor Museum to town.The resolution touts the city's strong military ties and thriving tourism industry as reasons for why the Museum should pick San Diego.Right now, the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation is still in the fundraising and planning phase. According to their website, the museum would tell the stories of each of the 3,500+ Medal of Honor recipients. It would also have an education center.There's no word from the museum on when they plan to pick a location.San Diego already has the USS Midway Museum, which brings in over one million visitors each year. The resolution also lists the San Diego Air and Space Museum, the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, The Veterans’ Museum and Memorial Center, Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial, Cabrillo National Monument and the San Diego History Center as other major military monuments in town.The city is also home to the largest concentration of US Military members in the world. Approximately 143,000 active duty military and 241,000 veterans live in San Diego."It's a perfect fit," says Mark Balmert, the Executive Director of the San Diego Military Advisory Council. "We're a great military town and what better place than San Diego to have this museum."Tourists around the Midway say it would complement the existing museums and military-based attractions, rather than compete with them."People can pick and choose to go to whatever appeals most to them," says Marcia Margolis, who is visiting from New Jersey. SAN DIEGO (KGTV): The San Diego Zoo got quite a surprise this week when one of its Siamang Apes gave birth.It was a surprise because zoo officials had no idea the mother, Eloise, was pregnant.The zoo confirmed the birth to 10News, saying Eloise had been on birth control.The baby was born Monday morning.SDSU student Francelia Amaya was there shortly after the birth. She has been observing the Siamang apes for the past few months as part of a project for her Anthropology class.Amaya says Eloise had been acting oddly that morning."She was really uncomfortable," says Amaya. "She was trying to find the right position. There were a lot of odd behaviors."Amaya got a few pictures and cell phone video of Eloise holding the new baby and swinging around the ape enclosure with the newborn in her arms.Eloise and the baby were taken out of the exhibit shortly after the birth, as was the father. All three are in observation right now.According to the zoo's website, Eloise is "is the best mom a young siamang could hope to have. She's had lots of practice, having given birth to seven youngsters over the years."The zoo says Siamangs are one of a few primate species that form permanent pairs. Eloise and the father, Unkie, have been together since 1987.There's no word from the zoo about how long they'll be kept out of the public eye. 1353

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- This Christmas local chefs and volunteers gave the gift of gourmet meals for those in need. It was a two day process. “Just Call Us” Volunteers prepared the food, from scratch, before serving it to the homeless. The volunteers made enough to feed over 400 people. Early this afternoon, the chefs and volunteers delivered the food to three different shelters. The largest being the Alpha Project tent, in Downtown. “We all appreciate it. They all deserve a good meal,” says a staff member with the Alpha Project. Over a dozen volunteers donated their time at the Alpha Project. More volunteers visited Rachel’s Women’s Shelter and San Diego Center for Children. All of the items are donated from Specialty Produce, Cupcakes Squared and Sprouts Farmers Market. Just Call Us Volunteers gives back to those in need year around. They encourage everyone to come spread a little cheer throughout the year. 925
