(KGTV) -- Firefighters responded to the scene of a half-acre brush fire in Escondido Monday afternoon. Cal Fire said the brush fire broke out near Del Dios Highway and Mount Israel Road.Firefighters wer able to extinguish the flames quickly but will remain on scene for several hours. Del Dios Highway appears to have reopened in both directions after the fire prompted the closure, causing traffic to back up for miles during rush hour. .@CALFIRESANDIEGO and cooperators are at scene of a half-acre vegetation fire near DelDios Hwy and Mount Israel Rd. ENCINITAS, Calif., (KGTV)— It has been almost three weeks since a fire destroyed several small shops in Encinitas. One of the business owners who lost it all is now getting a lot of support from his local community. In a blink of an eye, Greg Cali's life work was destroyed."One thing's for sure, it's been the most stressful period of my life," Cali said. His gallery was called "The Cali Life." It featured works by Cali and several other local artists. The blaze on September 30, 2019, burned it all to the ground. All except for one thing."The sign up over the building was the only thing I got," Cali said.That sign now has a new home inside of Pandora's Pizza restaurant."Art and pizza. Those are two of my favorite things on earth," he laughed. Two days before the fire, Cali sent out invitations to his gallery's one-year anniversary party. But with no gallery and no salvageable artwork, it was going to be canceled. That was, until Craig Leslie, Pandora's Pizza owner, reached out. Some of Cali's artwork was already hanging inside Pandora's Pizza, so Leslie offered to host the gallery party at the restaurant, located just two blocks away. "We're here to support him," Leslie said. "We're here to support other artists in the community. Let us know what you need, and I mean, we have a lot of walls!"Cali spent the last three weeks printing his collection, getting new pieces and organizing a silent auction. Instead of drowning himself in sorrow, he said his community is showering him with hope. Leslie even told Cali that he could use his upstairs loft as his gallery until he gets back on his feet. "My future, it looks really bright," Cali said. "There are ups and downs for sure, but I am 100 percent sure that you can turn bad things into positives. (KGTV) -- The San Diego Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident involving Phil Graham, a candidate to represent the 76th district in the California Assembly. Niki Burgan filed the battery case with the Sheriff's Office Sunday, May 20.  She accuses Graham of forcibly kissing her at an Encinitas Bar. Burgan told 10News that it happened at 1st Street Bar on S. Coast Hwy 101 on the evening of Sunday, May 13, into the early morning of Monday, May 14 as the bar was closing. She said that Graham had initially been flirting, even mentioning that he was running for office and asked whether she would vote for him. After finding out that he was a Republican candidate she said, no she was a Democrat. At some point, she says his talk turned into aggression and Graham grabbed her hair, pulled her in, and started to kiss her. She said she had to push him off. Burgan also said she remembers that Graham had so much to drink that night that she had to help him sign his tab. The next morning Burgan says she learned that he was related to former Governor Pete Wilson and she was worried about repercussions. That's why she didn't file right charges right away.  1259

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Video shows a machete attack in Escondido that occurred earlier in February. According to Escondido Police, the attack happened on Maywood Street and Washington Avenue around 10:17 p.m. on February 12. Police say it appears three teenagers walking in the area were confronted with a machete-wielding man. RELATED: Man attacked by machete-wielding suspect in TalmadgeOne of the teens, a 16-year-old suffered cuts to his head and hand, both were non-life threatening, police say. The teen was taken to the hospital for treatment. “None of the teens were very forthcoming with information. It’s still under investigation, but I’m sure there’s more to the story…” police said. 709

Facebook announced on Tuesday that it would no longer accept ads that discourage people from getting vaccinated onto its social media platform.In a press release, Facebook said they were launching a campaign to give its users useful information regarding vaccines and keep them safe and healthy during the pandemic.The social media company said Tuesday that they would roll out the ad ban in the "next few days.""Today, we're launching a new global policy that prohibits ads discouraging people from getting vaccinated. We don't want these ads on our platforms," Kang-Xing Jin, Facebook's head of health, and Rob Leathern, a Facebook director of product management, wrote in a blog post.Along with the ad ban, Facebook also launched an initiative that'll include new flu product features that provide additional vaccine-related content and work with global health partners on campaigns to increase immunization rates.Ads are still allowed if they advocate for or against legislation or government policies around vaccines – including a COVID-19 vaccine, Facebook said.Facebook also said it would be rolling out the ad ban in the coming days. 1149
