President Donald Trump provided an update to the White House’s response to the coronavirus pandemic at a news conference on Wednesday.While coronavirus deaths are on the rise, cases appear to be leveling off. On Tuesday, there were 1,399 coronavirus-related deaths reported, according to Johns Hopkins University figures.While the positivity rate has dropped off slightly in recent days (from 8.6% to 8.3%), some public health experts are baffled by a drop in testing. Data indicates that fewer Americans are being tested for the virus. Part of the reason could be due to delays in getting results.Johns Hopkins University data indicates that 28 states saw a decline in testing. Among the states seeing declines in testing are Florida, Mississippi, Georgia and Arkansas, which are seeing higher positivity rates compared to the rest of the US. Only eight states have ramped up testing, according to the data.Despite the drop in testing, the White House has said that the US has “created the best COVID-19 testing system in the world.”“The United States also has far and away the most robust testing capacity in the world,” Trump said on Tuesday. “Testing has been incredible, what we’ve been able to do. PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Human body parts that authorities say may have been intended for medical research were found over the weekend in northern Arizona.According to a statement released Sunday by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified about the remains near Prescott on Saturday and an examination confirmed they were human.A second site with additional body parts was discovered Sunday.The sheriff’s office says it is treating the investigation as a homicide, but the Yavapai County medical examiner says it appears the remains from both sites are from a medical institution and were intended for use in the educational and research field.The sheriff’s office described abandoning remains as a serious crime and said it intends to find “those culpable for such disrespect shown in the cavalier way the remains were discarded.”Sheriff Scott Mascher and Sheriff-Elect David Rhodes issued statements, saying they’ll work together to assure that whatever resources necessary are available to determine those responsible are found and prosecuted.“It is not much that could surprise me anymore, but this news makes me sick, especially for the families of those whose remains were found. President Donald Trump on Friday said that he is ready to sign an executive order that will offer unemployment supplements, eviction protection, and a payroll tax holiday through the end of the year. Trump said the order could "by the end of the week," and that he has lawyers currently drawing up the order. The executive order comes as Congress has stalled on negotiations with the White House on another round of stimulus funds.
